[Max] General Discussion / Re: REBUS RenderFarm
« on: 2015-09-02, 06:48:49 »
Completely unreliable, I have been sending support requests as my jobs crash and burn.  I would not trust this new rebus drop software that was released, since they implemented it I get 1 in 4 renders actually working, just lost a big client and my jobs are frozen in the server while the server continues to charge me.  Just don't rely on it actually working is my advice.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Lights object casting a shadow
« on: 2015-04-21, 02:50:56 »
Hi there.  1.0 is sweet, except for one thing, I cant turn off the shadows cast by the light object, I used to right click the light and a tick box 'shadows' used to be in the popup menu.  That has seem to be replaced with a window icon, that opens up light lister.  The shadows checkbox seems to be there, but when you uncheck it and close it, it doesnt work if you reopen light lister its still checked.
Any ideas?

Thanks Keymster, that's exactly what has happened. I accessed one of the passes and it had large areas of black so when you combine it you get noise.

On Rebus or Corona I never thought you had the choice of setting a rendering time for each pass.  When you launch rebus via the manager its either max render points or max passes (whatever comes first) so you would think that a single pass would be achieved, not multiple partial passes.  At least I have not seen this option...

[Max] General Discussion / Rendering with Rebus
« on: 2014-11-26, 00:50:11 »
Hi Corona peeps,

I'm currently having a heated discussion with Rebus, I have run 20+ jobs with them recently, all similar scenes, all with exactly the same settings and resolution. All renders came out perfect except for the last one, which had been rendered before on rebus but with a minor geometric alteration, but this time the render came out incomplete, it had not finished the initial pass although they had charged me the full price.  I contacted them and they claim that the image (thumbnail) attached below is actually 25 passes, even though it has not even completed the alpha/wirecolour.

I was hoping to get an official word from someone at Corona claiming whether or not these images below could possibly be 25 passes.

My week was going so well before this (what a nightmare)

Hope you can set the record straight!!

Work in Progress/Tests / Re: Arch Exterior with Corona

- the distortions on the glass makes it look elegant and ethereal, but architects think it indicates cheap glass, and also that's the famous Sydney harbor bridge in the reflections :)

Work in Progress/Tests / Arch Exterior with Corona
« on: 2014-10-02, 03:03:10 »
I started a topic a while ago called - Corona for exterior architecture, as most renders I found here were interior renders.  The response was that corona is excellent for exteriors.  So I tried it, and yep, its excellent.  Thanks guys, here are a few projects that I have used it on.

Seemed to work well - Might keep using it, thanks for your help :)

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Zdepth Bug_02

Hey Guys,
I have noticed a few other zdepth topics but this is different again.  The zdepth looks fine in the frame buffer however output file has some strange effects. I have tried other formats but does the same.

Check it out :)

I was keen to hear Keymasters' view on this...  Hair/Fur, proxies or displacement?  There are plenty of tutorials out there but nothing has really worked for me yet...

Thanks for your feedback, you have convinced me to use Corona, my scene is a 10 story residential tower populated with interiors but the environment is all photograph so I can keep polys to a reasonable amount.
I assume the RAM requirement is for all render slaves or just the main pc?

Nice work rambambulli, how have you done the foreground?

Hey Peeps,
So we all know Corona is friggin' awesome for doing closed spaces ie interior renders etc. So what's the general thoughts about using it for exterior renders.  I am about to start on a big project and was thinking about using Corona.  If admin is serious about world domination this should be quite an important topic.  Has anyone pioneered it for exteriors?  Will I get as good or if not better result than vray or iray?  Or is it just not built for exteriors??

Any feedback would be much appreciated as I don't want to jeopardise this success of my next project...

:) :) :)
