Hi all
It's impossible to calculate a selection with the mode "viewport selection" in Render selected tab.
I've checked with this quick tip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpZMzklGvwk) but my screen result is still black.
Render without selection is ok (see below)
Thanks for your help
Roland

Looks like you have selected a scattering object (CoronaScatter,ForestPro...)? In this case you have to select the instanced objects (same with masks).

Good Luck

Hi Frood, and thanks for your answer
It doesn't work no more.
I've tried to select the RC object and the instanced objects : result is black.
I've tried to convert to it to poly : black
I've tried with a simple box : black.
Always black !
Am I doing something wrong, I really don't understand ?

That's odd. Have you tried that simple box in a fresh scene?

Yes it's ok with a free scene : plane and a box, box selected and rendered...

So I've cleaned up my scene and merged it into a new scene.
And it doesn't work... it's a real problem.
I don't know what to do, because I've some objects to hide and give with a little transparency in Photoshop, and I have no solution, only render the elements without their environment...

Could you:

- delete everything from a problematic scene except 2 boxes
- verify that the problem still exists
- attach that (almost) empty scene?

Include/Exclude list mode does not work either?

Good Luck

I've found a solution, but it's not the final way to achieve this :
I've copy and paste all the elements for rendering (with sun, sky, camera settings etc.) in a new scene, and I've rendered with success the part of model I wanted.
But it's not very easy to do that and I've wasted so much time to find this solution, with your help Frood, and I thank you.
I hope that in the future this problem will not happen again... (and if the developers can shake it, that would be nice).
Thanks again for your time and answers Frood.

The only way to insure this is to have one of those problematic scenes for investigation - you can attach one either here or (better) create a ticket. Please do if you find the time :=)

Good Luck

Maybe you have some object in front of your selected object? Like some kind of box? Volumetric fog? It could be some kind of bug, so it would be best to take a look at the scene.

Yes I have a volumetric fog... you think it's the problem ? I'm testing it ASAP and tell you

So YES ! It was the volumetric fog wich caused the problem.
No I know (and all of us too !)
Thanks for your intuition Maru ;-)
