Title: Project CAT_TAV_ST
Post by: Coronaut on 2014-10-29, 20:40:43
This is just some close ups, no final images yet, too shame i have NDA for this so i can't show wider or some other "recognizable" shots, i even had to hide some of the stuff... boring...
Anyhow i am having problem with bucket render not setup wise as it is working nice on single machine but when i try DR it does random buckets... actually closes in explaining would be like first computer has done 5 passes, second 3, third 6 etc... so when image is done it gets all buckety :D ahahah
And i wouldn't even try bucket but this DOF is killing me! Uff...
I will continue adding images as i finish render as this is Final_Draft stage...
ofc they are Post-processed.
Cheers

I mean, i see some flashing patterns, like in these images (https://www.google.lt/search?q=optical+illusions&biw=1405&bih=1034&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=-VxRVN25KcWxaYLXgogL&sqi=2&ved=0CB0QsAQ). I quess, it tells me that i need to rest my eyes from staring at screen all day long.

Any reason not to do the DOF in post? it seems to be so heavy that most post plugins / application should be able to do that just fine.

Btw I need your clients!  Hah not a lot of houses looks that that when it comes to standard shitty marketing material.

Thanks!
Reason not to do DOF in post? Well as i do lots of things in post anyhow i try to short my list and avoid any half-solution that can add possibility to end up with compromising at the end of the job and eventually to fuck-up .
Corona have nice DOF maybe it doesn't have so many settings as in another very popular plug-in used these days for viz :D but it gets job done. So i guess simple answer would be "Commodity" but it has disadvantages like fireflies etc. but that is so rare so i do not mind taking pen and do masking by hand and or adding some lens blur.
This is extreme DOF situation so yes i could get away with it, agreed but again, one more thing to think about...
Too bad i cant show some really interesting stuff...
Here is another MS. last for tonight.
Cheers!

You have a very nice grading and subtle light-feel to most of these images. Very pleasant.  As for the DOF, the reason why most don't do it in the render is because... well we all know the client is going to want less ,more or none at all, and then the tiny bit of time saved by not doing it in post becomes a massive loss when you have to re-render. From a quality point of view the render option is nearly always better. I guess one can't have it.

Thanks.
Clients tend to obsess about all kind of different things but at the end of the day you have to keep fighting battle with them. It can be tiresome ordeal.
