[Scatter] I need help! / Re: Chaos scatter inside a polygone
« on: Yesterday at 23:26:06 »
The objects are being distributed by their pivot points, not by their bounding boxes. Since pivot points are dimensionless, it is inevitable that objects that are distributed close to the edges will have some of their parts outside of distribution object. There are several ways you could try to limit this behaviour, but none of them can guarantee perfect result. The methods you could try - 1. use Chaos scatter's edge trim feature, 2. limit scattering near the edges with distribution maps, or with spline include/exclude feature, 3. use Corona slicer to cut away protruding objects (i'm not sure if this would work in combination with the scatter though).

[C4D] I need help! / Re: 3D ANIMATED PEOPLE
« on: Yesterday at 19:00:42 »
I downloaded the free samples of animated people. Very nice to have that many options of render engines. I can confirm there is a problem with only the models that use image sequences for a material. Seems like it add additional detail to fabric folds as they move. The other point is this is not a Corona issue it seems as the model "rp_aliyah_4d_004_dancing_C4D" displays the exact same error as shown in the attached image.

Not sure if you're aware of the fact that those so called 4D people models use separate mesh for each frame and have different UVs and different textures for each frame too. You can't use single texture for the animation, you need to use sequence of textures. Personally i find those models worthless, as it is total waste of resources. Also they are not editable and doesn't look that much better compared to regular animated models.

Yes, it is possible to link almost anything in slate material editor with the controllers.

You can choose smaller, but brighter lights and/or darken the background. In other words, you want bigger difference between brightest and darkest parts of the scene. That should give you more pronounced and crispier reflections.

Did you try to change the lighting to a more contrasty one? Your material previews in the material editor looks very glossy, so it's most likely that the "issue" is in the lighting. If it's very diffuse, which is quite common in studio setup, then materials might struggle to show clear glossy reflections, because there's not enough contrast for that.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona and Gaussian splats?
« on: 2025-03-16, 10:51:05 »
Gaussian splats are being considered for the future release in Corona: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=41024.msg228150#msg228150

There are multiple discussions about that in the forum already, you may want to do a quick search if you want to stay up to date on the topic.

[Max] I need help! / Re: .rcs pointcloud and corona?
« on: 2025-03-13, 16:56:51 »
Couple suggestions from me, not sure if either would work, but worth trying. 1) see if tyflow can use point clouds for particle seeding. 2) if it's dense point cloud, then maybe you could try to mesh it. I think RCS is Reality Capture's format?

Sorry, can't help with that. I'm working with gamma workflow. I don't understand that colour management mumbo jumbo.

Check if displacement is enabled in render setup>common>options. It's a global setting and will affect all the displacement in the scene.

Hi,

Are you getting any warning messages about missing textures? Also, make sure that all the objects have proper UV coordinates assigned to them.

You're most welcome :]

Your material has additional outputs set to 0 (default), you need to increase that value to the number of outputs you need. Say if you want to plug the tiles map to diffuse, roughness and displacement, you need to set additional outputs to 2, so it will be one default output + 2 additional. You can read this help article if you want to learn more about multiple outputs in Corona: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/15771759780369-Multiple-Input-and-Output-Maps

What noise settings did you use please,? mine looks way too blurry :-/

You can increase noise contrast by adjusting its threshold settings - decrease high and increase low. In my case it was something like 0,5 high and 0,49 low. If you shift threshold towards high or low, you will get more blacks or lows, so something like 0,35 high and 0,34 low will get you high contrast and predominantly white colours. Feel free to experiment with the values until you get result that you need. If you'll get the pattern right, but won't be happy with its placement, try to adjust phase. Hope that helps.

the scene has a large number of different sloping areas that has me shying away from doing it as models so would prefere to do via map on the polys that make up the paving area

In that case Corona tiles map is what you need.
