no, nothing of that sort.
I did reset once again and only use a newly generated sun and sky with the "add coronaSky env" button.
The problem seems to be tied to the scene surroundings. It is quite large in scale (although not very high in polycount).
When I hide the surroundings the problem seems to be gone.
This is weird.

[Max] Bug Reporting / EV - brightness change on IR restart
« on: 2021-06-28, 12:32:38 »
Hello,

I've had this problem a couple of times now.
Is this a bug or are some settings responsible for this?
max 2021, corona 6 hf2, standard settings. (I even did a render engine reset just to check, and this still happens)

please see attached video.

Code: [Select]
showClass "CShading_LightSelect*.*"

can you be more specific, what exactly will this script do?

I just ran into the same issue with a different scene.
This time the poly count is lower (~ 10 million polys) so the IR slowdown is not as obvious, but we are still talking about an almost 50% performance loss as opposed to the "normal" render. 3,6 vs 6,6 Rays/s total.
I guess Frood already identified the problem and I hope there will be a solution for this.

Herman Miller (esp. COSM, Aeron (2nd), and Embody).

Have you tried the Herman Millers Juraj? I am not the biggest fan of their design and also they are not very suitable for crosslegged sitting which unfortunatly I do too often.
Maybe this would help get rid of it...

Off-Topic / office/working chair
« on: 2021-02-25, 15:38:50 »
Hello,

My back is demanding a seating upgrade and I was wondering if you guys have any tips or experiences you can share.
The sheer volume of office chairs is so big that I have successfully avoided this topic for too long it seems.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I tried without, but it did not make a difference in this scene.

Hi,

We'd very much like to take a look at your scene and see if we can somehow improve this.

Would you be able to send your scene to us? Instructions on how to do this can be found in my signature.

Cheers,

Rowan

I uploaded the file via dropbox. The name is city.7z. I hope 7zip is ok.

I thought it would be something along the way...did not know where else to post it.
Anyways, thanks for the information! This means that in scenes like that IR is not really an option as of now?

I have a pretty big file of a city here. (~ 28 million polys). Simple setup with an override material & sun/sky.
In IR the performance drops significantly, to the point where its not really useable anymore. (see corona_ir.mkv).
Normal Render performance is fine again as you can see in the screenshot.

In Vray IR performs with no issues.

try the maxscript attached. Go to "scripting" > "run script"

There is a BIG demand for this,...

is there really? Making the scripts work for CoronaCam / Physical Cam should not be too hard.
Also there are now more advanced tools like, Pulze Scene Manager for example. But those are not free obvioulsy.
