Please, for every problem you stumble upon, describe steps to reproduce, your OS, HW and SW specs. Also Images & scene files are most welcome.

Been using "Only Modifiers" for the last couple of hours and it's working quite nice.

You? Aren't you happy? Are you missing anything? Then please, help testing, work with it, donate, spread the word...
Or even better, in return create & show something magnificent - artwork, tutorials, intros, film... show your imagination!
...  just, don't whine.

We all evolve & grow slow, so just be grateful that you're able to be here complaining.   
Even Blender is miniscule compared to other tools in the Capital Industry, luckily it's source is open & free.

Some of us don't strive on the material wealth, it's just another tool, as you may one day become ;)

For product to be commercially viable (professional production ready) first must be practically proven in production... or risk to parish sooner than you can think of another paradox.

Confirming.
That is, if Material Editor is used - You need to enable Refraction (must not be 0,00).
Or as soon as you add/enable Material Node Tree, it renders without an error.

PS
Using Material Editor it is necessary to check & set the preferred Material under Corona Surface Shading > Corona Material:
- CoronaPortalMtl (Ligh Portal)
- CoronaVolumeMtl (Volumetric Material)
- CoronaLightMtl (Emissive / Light Material)
- CoronaMtl (Corona Standard Material)

yes, two script locations are perfectly normal for Blender (root & roaming)
if two (same) addons are recognized as activated, you'll get a warning in console and on addon list

Edit: There's actually a corona scene converter on the devs roadmap. So probably no need to update this one. :(

tho, i agree, with 3rd party exporter some work would be taken off the dev. team & users/testers could do more helping, advising, sharing experience

has anyone found the solution to mix/layer/combine both: Xray + wire? Tried with Layered but render is different than the preview - Is there a bug?

If this is what you're after?
Diffuse is used to color the wires (even textures, procedurals, ramps... can be used).
Opacity channel with Corona Wire shader is then used to only show wires/edges on a material (you can also set to vertices only.

Confirmed & Reported (issue#2602), any use of any texture format (jpg, exr, hdr...) with Sky object  crashes Cinema.

To use dailies, obtain a beta license...
