Gallery / Re: Investigating the light
« on: 2017-07-18, 18:29:22 »
there's a technique which incorporates/combines both, long exposure and flash/strobe, which gives clear visible form to objects not emitting light and still allows lights/emitters to create visible trails (in a way creates similar results as multi-exposure)
eg. image results for 'long exposure strobe'

tho in your study case more than that is breaking the illusion
one is headlight trail, how can trail be visible if the source of the light isn't ;)
usually what you'd see is tail lamp trail of a car driving in front, no headlights
now it looks as if the imaginary/ghost car was driving in opposite direction of your car
second is rotation blur on the wheels without direction blur (as mentioned before), third - distracting overlay, fourth - bloom-glare-blur inconsistency... and so on

simple advice, start with understanding photography if you wish to mimic the real-world technique

anyway, stay great & keep it up

yup :)
sadly... i understand what you mean & unfortunately...

CMasking_Mask (Creates a custom set of rules for including/excluding each object from the mask. The available conditions are material gbuffer ID, object gbuffer ID, and direct object selections)
... is not supported in standalone (Corona Blender Issue #83)

that's all i know... probably you should ask developers (for a feature ;)

No go... :(

Could a max user provide a simple scene & material description files?

1174
Ah :(... :) thanks for clearing it out.

BTW
Hope to see it in sooner than later, since overwriting settings via string options feels much more powerful & testing advanced stuff when i get the chance doesn't hurt either.

Nice to know where one stands. Summer vacations are just around the corner & it will take some time to be back ;)

stay well

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Export to Corona SA?
« on: 2017-07-14, 15:23:19 »
Please, could any dev. kindly state if 'String Options' should work or not, because as it is now it doesn't respond to anything.
Should be reported as a bug or is simply not implemented yet?

From... How to render using Corona Standalone? (@ Corona Renderer Helpdesk for 3ds Max plugin)
Quote
easiest way is to create a simple scene in 3ds Max, go to development/experimental stuff rollout, and press the "Export+Render" button

Is there a way with C4D? Any alternative or is something planed?
ie.String option does absolutely nothing.
Code: [Select]
string system.sceneExportPath = "C:/scene.scn"
TIA

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Re: Multi-Pass crashing

no crashes (win7x64pro, r18.041, corona-c4d-win-2017-06-27)
tho after a while, as corona is closed CPU resources (cinema4d.exe) are still being used (~90%) - need to force close or end process

thanks, tho it's just stuff from around here, blended a bit while bug hunting ;)
(from ortho camera testing, modified to test passes, attached below)

BTW, do you know what's with the ID_Material pass? Seems as if all materials have same ID & there's no adv. option to custom define ID#?

ie. this is ID_Material pass from c4d

Look in Properties Editor > Render Layer Tab > Corona Render Passes
There you can check and set passes.
Direct, Indirect / Diffuse, Refraction, Reflection, Trans... are under Components & Raw Components
IDs are under ID (altho it seems Material ID doesn't work? All materials are same?)
... and so on, as is available in SA.

Note:
- Set Corona Render File format: EXR
- Render using 'Corona wx Framebuffer'
- Save passes from the Corona's VFB (as are not imported back into Blender)

eg

;) Will it do?

Tested & it works as expected.

Thank you!
:)

Well, i can't see what is wrong with consistency of scale: 1 unit = 1 meter. It is all over Blender. Even in Cycles and 3rd party engines. Is it really that hard to have a consistent thought flow & stable mind?

Why breaking what's not broken?

« on: 2017-07-10, 16:05:33 »
I assume it means, Corona bridge is up to date. ;)
Had just updated & it shows same here.
'Restore addon backup' also doesn't work, stays on the latest (7.4.1) showing same text (999...).

Either way for time being i still prefer manual control, even with other 'auto-updaters'.. rarely anyone (no one :) provides or creates backup of the stable state.

« on: 2017-07-10, 15:25:21 »
too much details in question
would you kindly make & share a test file for confirmation ;)

1184
Yup, i see.
Usual suspect, has something to do with shading & normals (on long thin polys).
Just do a vertical cut through the middle (ctrl+R) and observe ;)

PS
Creating NaNs (black pixels) influences denoiser also... thus makes them bigger, more pronounced.

BTW
There's no need to model beveled edges of the screen, leave them flat (use simple plane/4 vertices).
Edges on real products are usually hidden behind the frame ;)

Chaos Corona for Blender / Re: Blender To Corona bugs

Exploring the issue:
Corona's Camera Scale value seems incorrect, but is just different: e.g if Cycles Ortho Scale is is 10 then Corona's Scale is 5 - Views don't match yet resulting renders do?! Values are inter-connected but don't work correctly for the viewport (Corona VS Cycles Scale = 1 : 2).

Shifting Corona's Ortho Camera on X or Y has no influence/effect. Does nothing. Resulting image stays same as without Shift.
On Perspective Camera is OK.

IIRC there were issues with Corona's Ortho camera in the past. Am not sure.

PS
An alternative to bypass this is to use Perspective Camera in extreme Telephoto mode.

Set it further away (cc200m) then set extra high Focal Length (80,000,000.0 mm) and Sensor Width (8,000,000.0)

Note: there's still minutely visible perspective, to correct more go even further away and set Focal Length accordingly.
Also note that at some point precision will become a problem and will create other erroneous results.

eg. Perspective Camera (as described above)
