Hello team

i just installed the corona 6 and i have a problem

how can you use the old good "visible in mask" options ?
i tried many options but that can t work

i have a big projetc behind a glass, and all my mask are corrupted by this item
i just want a way to click: "don t visible to mask" on it

or i would have to render 2 times with and without. That would be so bad...
and for videos it will just not be possible.

you should put back the check box !
but waiting for that, please, tell me how i can do !

thank you

The "visible in masks" option has been removed, but we are thinking about bringing it back in V7 right now.

Currently the solution is to either:
- use the existing mask propagation options (if possible)
- render the scene normally, with the object visible; then enable the "render only masks" option (Render Setup > Scene), hide the object, and render the masks without the object
- or revert to Corona 5

Can you also explain why exactly you would like to hide the object in masks? Is it because you want to render masks of objects which are behind the glass object?

ok, i will render masks in a second time

yes, the reason is that i m rendering an interior scene project, and 75% of my project is behind a glass
i would have to propagate 572 objects to have everything right
this is too bad

please bring back the chek box fast ;)

thank you

In theory, you can make a mask "invisible" by setting your propagate through refraction and set your IOR to 1.0, but that would mean you have to render separately the masks from your beauty. For the moment what Marcin suggested stands. Do note the above solution won't help you with z-depth at all.

We have everything logged and as previously mentioned a more flexible/better functionality will be introduced with v7 Dailies.

I am not fully sure of the meaning here, but remember that the propagate option is set for the glass (not for any objects that are to be seen through the glass), so that would be just one setting - you wouldn't have to set the propagate for the 572 objects seen in the glass. You would set the glass material to propagate masks "Through refraction" and that would be it (assuming all glass objects, if there are more than one, use the same glass material).

We had to revert for the time being. Hoping for a daily soon...

hope the "visible to mask" option will return to v6 hotfix ? at some point  - as its quite a long time until v7 will be released.
Its quite disapointing this feature has been removed - as it was the only way to work around the RGB-masking problem - when comparing it with Vray and multi-matte-elements.

Now it adds quite unnecessary steps to get all the masks for post-production - or multiple render-sessions.

Hi, as of the latest daily build of Corona 7 2021-03-22, options for propagation to some render elements (Mask, ID, Wire color, Z-depth, Texmap) were added to enable or disable it simply tick on the Propagate element on each mask respectively (see attached).

Now it is possible for refractive propagation of masks to work along with Z-depth. You can find the latest DB here: [Link]
