finally figured out a bug thats been a plague in some scene. if the corona light is missing ies file the viewport becomes extremely stuttering if the corona lights that are missing the IES file is visible in viewport. as soon as the light is not visible in the viewport its fine or the IES is removed the viewport is fine. Very weird bug.

Don't know if this is a bug or what but very often when converting vray materials self illumination is "ON" with value 1. its not visible but you end up with thousands of light sources depending on geometry.

Recently had an issue where the scene kept crashing with memory leak a few minutes into rendering, after many hours of troubleshooting boiled it down to a whole bed scene from 3dsky converted from vray had self illumination turned on. problem solved after turning self illumination to 0 in all the materials manually. both in corona 7 and 8

If anything is could it be possible to add force self illumination to 0 checkbox in the corona scene converter?

Hardware / ECC vs non-ECC memory
« on: 2020-02-27, 10:15:53 »
We are about to puchase a new 3rd gen threadripper build with 128GB of RAM, is it a good idea to go for ECC memory for 3ds max and corona use or is it better to go for faster non-ECC RAM?

This would be great to have to avoid having to open render settings to turn DR on and off, a checkbox under DR tab.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / HDRI reflection override fireflies
« on: 2018-12-11, 12:50:27 »
Capture1 - corona Sun used as light source, only hdri in the reflection override slot.
Capture2 - hdri used as light source and reflections. (no fireflies)
Capture3 - hdri settings, (fireflies dissappear if you turn down hdri exposure but then you don't get any reflection from hdri (duh))

Hi, i cant get the velocity pass to create correct mblur in after effects. im not sure if its because i use wrong settings or its just broken (probably the former).

it seems to just create weird blurring around edges no matter what property i use in "CC Vector blur" filter. (strength cranked up to more clearly see what the blur does.)
Here the person in front should be very much blurred in motion.

Ive tried with velocity offset 0,0 and 0,5.

Hi, we are struggling with some flickering, this is using uhd-cache secondary (flicker-free). 30 passes for each frame. any tips?
exhibits in the windows, there is also some glare flickering  in the flowers but that is understandable and will just disable glare for animation.
will path tracer secondary solve it? seems to add quite some render time.

[Max] General Discussion / Corona affected by unit setup?
« on: 2016-11-18, 11:58:58 »
Just wondering if there is a preferred way for the 3ds max scene units to be setup for Corona? Max is set to 1 unit = 10cm as standard, is this the preferred way to work? Is Corona affected by this in any way (i.e lighting correctly)? should it be set up one way or another?
