Title: Render quality Max vs C4D in Corona
Post by: ozwald on 2020-03-20, 16:28:22

Hello team, I hope you are very well.
This time I am writing to you because I have a question.
It is well known that the quality that Vray gives in 3D Max is superior to Vray in C4D.
For this reason, Vray users looked for other options or do long post work, to have a similar quality.

My question is: Is there the same with Corona?
I have seen works made with Corona in 3D Max that have a superior quality without the need for a post.
With Corona in C4D can we have the same quality?

this is a job that is supposedly done in 3D Max and Corona.

Can this quality be achieved with C4D?

No difference in quality, the render engine is the exact same core, and we are always trying to make the feature set comparable too.

Some Corona for C4D users:

... and many more!

(animations are just a series of stills ;) So if you can get this quality in a still, you can get it in animation)

thanks

Is there any place for tutorials for professionals, to reach that quality of renders?
I've always thought that tutorials are the perfect advertisement for a render engine because it shows what you can achieve

Our YouTube channel has C4D tutorials split out into a playlist

As a note, we focus more on introducing and explaining how to use the tools and features, rather than teaching composition, color theory, timing in animation, and other non-Corona specific skills that go into making great renders and animations :)

You can check out courses from approved and endorsed third parties at https://www.facebook.com/groups/CoronaAcademyOfficial/ or https://corona-academy.com/ - some of those courses deal specifically with those general skills (for courses that DO deal with the tools and features of Corona, then those courses are based on 3ds Max as there is no Corona Academy for Cinema 4D just yet; principles etc. are the same though, most usually it's a UI difference).

The sad truth is that average Max user is much more capable compared to the average C4D user, that’s because have more and better resources to learn, a bigger community, earlier access to software, more ready made assets, the software used plays very little role.
Was the same for Vray too, beside some little shaders differences the software was largely the same(of course comparing the same version) and results can be absolutely on par with Vray for Max provided you know how to use the software.

"It is well known that the quality that Vray gives in 3D Max is superior to Vray in C4D."

no thats wrong, the render quality is identical in vray max and c4d.
true is the the v-ray max version has more features and a deeper integration so far (until chaosgroup releases its new version for c4d:)

the quality to achiev is identical possible in c4d as well in max, for both engines.
if you can reach the quality of the examples you showed, fully depends on your own artistic skills, not if you use in c4d or max versions.

cheers
Stefan

Yes. Just look at the gallery in this forum. You will always see difference between Max and C4D. And it is basically the same difference as with the V-Ray for both of them.

I totally agree! It can be the same render core and everything ... maybe it's just something with C4D or. restriction.
Even now i notice the difference when vray bought a corona that the quality changed to that typical blur vray render as soon as they started using dmc, if I'm not mistaken.

Considering human social behavior, generational devolution... I think it's the user's psyche, mentality... it's a choice.

The simpler the tool, the simpler the job and consequently final output is.
In parallel to: Without complex thought & experience, there's no ability to create complex works - AKA - "Shit in, shit out."

C4D by itself is just superficial and usually needs extras to get things done on the next level.

;)

that comes not from a difference in the engine, but more from "experience level" of the users.
even though c4d is growing, 3dsmax has much more users worldwide yet and in absolute numbers therefore you have much more high level artists there,so you see more high level examples from them in galleries.
