The displacement is the new system that creates better results without the need to heavily subdivide your mesh first. The downside is it takes longer to precalc.

I noticed that too, reported in mantis... i hope there is some bug behing the code, or improvements in the future because it takes much longer to precalc...

i hope work behind the curtains is going well with c4d ... i really cant imagine anything better than having corona fully fletched=)

on question - will you bring the point cloud display of the corona proxies to cinema ?? that would be so cool - also will there be corona scatter for c4d??

After some more testing it seems like the new displacement version is indeed much slower while precalculating.

I also noticed though that the screen size number (px), is not equivalent with the previous versions. Which means that you don't get the same result for the same value.
New version output's better resolution for the same value and has no edge breaks like the older method.

Although even when comparing similar results it is indeed considerably slower.

Now because this seems like an engine related issue
and since there are objects that don't need the edge break fix (which might be slowing the precalculation) like floors for example,
maybe you could add a per object basis "legacy displacement" feature till it gets fixed/optimized?

In addition, it would be great if there was a choice of "screen size" / "world space" on a per object basis as well.

Hi, I haven't heard of any updates on the development of Corona since 2016, I'm getting very concerned actually. Is everything ok? Are we gonna get Version1 for Cinema 4d this year?, I'm about to order a bunch of computers but I recently found that Corona is not compatible with team render,  ( I'm using alpha 3) is that in the mix for 2016? Please let us know.

Not sure why you are concerned about development when you're still on A3? A4.1 is a pretty good release. I use it daily but your right no DR at this point.

Hey,

we're working intensely on the Cinema4D plugin and the OSX port. A new alpha will be out in a matter of days, then two more alphas during spring and summer and finally, in September, v. 1.0 should be out.  Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Jarda
