Cool, how did you add the tiny dust particles that are visible in the close up renders?
I just modeled 4 kind of dust (very tiny cylinders with some noise modifier) and scattered them on the surface ;)

It's pretty easy to achieve and to control and better looking than dust textures. My result is actually rough, with some more work it could get more interesting.
