[Max] General Discussion / Re: anyone had this problem?
« on: 2014-05-21, 20:31:04 »
Here is the solution: when loading a print screen into MS paint you have this tool that lets you crop you image. First you pick "Select" and then "Crop" (Ctrl+Shift+X). Hope that helps.

Also, maybe it's because you are using Vray cam with some strange settings?

Does your curtain have thickness?

I'd suggest adding CESSENTIAL_direct and CESSENTIAL_indirect elements so that you can determine if the noise comes from GI or direct light. But this is just my guess.

You could be more specific on which parts of the image we should comment. Or you can just ask about the problems that you have. For example: hey guys, I have some problem with lighting/texturing/corona settings.

I just pissed my pants.

Can't wait for the version with motion blur working on pflow!

I'm not exactly sure what this case looks like but would it be possible to use "symmetry" modifier here?

Noisona Renderer! :D
So it's not noisona, but that's a good idea for a new renderer: starts with a clean image and the more time you let it render the more noisy it gets. Great idea!
Would it be possible to make a renderer that instead of starting from black and adding light to it, would start from white and subtract points that are dark? :D

You must have used an old DSLR for this - so much noise. :)

Yeah, jhindley is right, this looks like in-game footage because:

-there isn't much attention to detail
-there is almost no reflectivity - stone walls/floors should have at least SOME reflectivity
-generally, most shaders are very simple, maybe even diffuse-only?
-I think it would be impossible for a cobble floor to get wavy
-plants need more reflectivity and translucency
-post processing makes it look like a scene from a movie where someone is in a dream
-DOF looks unnatural

Shit, I was sure it's displacement or at least bump. :D

Number 4 is the best. Less is more. :)

Why is everything so blurry? Are these scaled up?

11367
I don't know what you are trying to achieve but here is my "stretched latex/balloon thing" and it looks like it works fine on geometry with no thickness.

Congratulations, you created toon shader in Corona.

11369
Maybe use translucency or opacity instead of refraction?

Basically you make a big plane with translucent material and animate it moving towards/away from camera, perpendicularly to camera. Enable motion blur and voila!
