Hi, here some renders inspired by a Carin Olsson picture hope you like it
-
I like the dusty glossy surface of the table, can you share how you did it? Everything else in the scene is nice to look at, but the ashtray looks a bit frosty.
-
Thanks Alex for your feedback , i've fix the ashtray the glossiness was too low. For the table it's essentially photoshop, for this king of thing i usually place and adjust the tilling of a basic texture directly in 3dsmax, when i'm happy i do a "render to texture" unfortunately corona doesn't handle this so i've to switch to a standard material and scanline rederer. Then in photoshop i've duplicate my wood texture and make it one dark and one brighter with a mask for the wear effect , and finally add some white touch with a custom dirt brush with low opacity for the dusty/washing effect .

The ashtray looks unnatural, it is too bright. Possibly diffuse component in glass material. Or is it intentional?
-
True maru ! it's not intentional , usually i play with the refraction depth in vray , but i need to tweak that a little here, maybe raise the ior or a darker refraction color .. you have some advises ? there's no diffuse map or something
-
Can you show your glass material setup?
-
Yes sure, the fact that i don't use any Hdri map is possibly a reason, i'll try to add one.
-
Use absorption, it's essential parameter for such objects.
-
And the colour in diffuse slot is 100% black? Strange, I was sure there is some diffuse in that material. :)
-
Yes maru all black ! i've tried with some absorption , refraction max and a higher ior it's better , thanks romullus

Nice scene.
