I also have one 3970x with U14s in the office, it works great for a few years now.
I had some bad experiences with AIO liquid cooling in some previous configurations I built so I'm really hesistant to go down that road again :).
Having stable and reliable workstation that I can safely leave to render overnight is more important to me than squezzing a few mhz more.

Hi, can you please suggest cooling solutions for Threadripper 7970x.
I was thinking to go with Noctua NH-U14S TR5-SP6 but not sure if some AIO liquid solution is better.

For Marijan, Vantage reads vrscene, so we need to export to vrscene, correct. This would not be something that could happen fast enough to work with IR unfortunately. Just the way Vantage is set up to work, that it only takes in vrscene format, and coming from Corona will need conversion which takes time.

While a way to render with Vantage is planned for Corona 12, this is not planned to work in a way that would allow it to be an IR replacement, sorry.

Hi Tom, can you please share some more information on this?
From what you are saying Vantage support will be some kind of scene exporter rather than having live link like in vray.

And "willing to pay the extra $600 a year on top of the Corona subscription?" - that's an important point to let us know when chiming in for Vantage :) Thanks!

If we want to use Vantage now its paying extra $600 for it plus paying for Vray plus all the hassle with scene converting.
So having to spend "only" 600$ seems not so bad :)

Personally I think adding support for Vantage would be a perfect way to integrate peoples wishes for GPU rendering, since that has been high on the list but is a humongous task to make. Because in many cases one doesn't need to render perfect unbiased path tracing for every job, with vantage support, one has the option to choose - so it would sort of give Corona that GPU feature. And perhaps it could have been added as Premium offer for a higher price to have corona AND Vantage same way you now have Phoenix. (for cinema 4D users that would have been a more appropriate package, since they don't even have Phoenix)

SME has been the no.1 productivity-killer for me for some years now, mostly due to how 3ds Max handles it. Disabling material previews (bottom-left) improves things a bit, but it remains slow as hell, especially during IR. Wires won't be drawn if you don't click on the map output 3-4 times, the UI constantly freezes etc.

Parameter editor is still significantly slower compared to Max'es native renderers and it still gets progressively slower over time. Some UI elements still fails to update while IR is running.

I was really hoping this would be resolved in Corona 10 and Max 2024. There are some speed improvements but as Romullus said I don't feel that much has changed.
Smooth work with material editor while IR is running would be major improvment in productivity.

I use Pulze scene manager plugin to easily assign different environment maps per camera.
Having this built in Corona camera plus ability to set different render resolution per camera would be great addition.
+1 from me for this feature.

Hi, I think there is problem when using multiple CoronaSky maps in CoronaSelect map.
Clouds look as expected in render background but shadows from clouds behave wrong.
It seems to me that CoronaSky in 0 slot of CoronaSelect map controls clouds amount in all other slots, or something like that.
Same problem happens in corona 9 and latest corona daily build, max 2023.

Simple max scene attached, try changing clouds amount in map0 while map3 is selected as active.

Yes, our support team should get this sorted for you so that you keep the extra render nodes.

Hi Maru, I would also like to use BF discount and keep my extra render nodes.
Answer from support team was that this is not possible. (ticket 67818)

It just does not work when the RoundEdges node is set to "fast". Maybe you should add a line "map.algorithm=0" to the script(s) to ensure the RoundEdges maps are set to "precise".

it seems that RoundEdgesLegacy scripts doesn't work in Corona 9.
Can you please provide some information how to fix this, or about plans for integrating this feature in round edges map permanently.
