Hardware / Another PC build
« Last post by foundandco on 2024-05-09, 17:01:50 »
Hi Guys,

I see a few recent threads on this topic aren't getting any replies, but I for one (with limited PC building knowledge) have found previous advice on this topic to be extremely useful.

…and through the various threads here and elsewhere, I’ve put together the below PC that to the best of my knowledge is the optimal spec for around 2.5k / 2.6k (£).

- Case - CORSAIR 4000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE

- Processor - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16 Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.7GHz/144MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5)

- Motherboard - ASUS® ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 6E)

- Memory (RAM) - 128GB PCS PRO DDR5 4800MHz (4 x 32GB)

- Graphics Card - 12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 Ti - HDMI, DP, LHR

- 1st M.2 SSD Drive - 2TB CORSAIR CORE XT MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 5000 MB/R, 4400 MB/W)

- Power Supply - CORSAIR 750W RMe SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET

- Power Cable - 1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)

- Processor Cooling - CORSAIR H100x RGB ELITE HIGH PERFORMANCE CPU COOLER

- Thermal Paste - STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING

- Sound Card -  ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

- Network Card - ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT

- USB/Thunderbolt Options - MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS

- Operating System - Windows 11 Professional 64 Bit - inc. Single Licence

This will be purely for rendering with Corona (+ general use).

If anyone can see anything I missed, have wrong or could improve upon, it would be greatly appreciated (don't want to be spending any more than this).

I’ve built a PC before but will likely ask PC Specialist to do this one.

Thanks a lot
Chris

Jobs / Freelancer / Remote studio needed
« Last post by Cian Mac on 2024-05-09, 15:43:06 »
Hi.

I run a small studio called Lightroom 3D which mainly focuses on Machine and Product rendering / animation.
I also have another business called CMG Designs which mainly focuses on Arch Viz.

I've been realy busy with the machine stuff the past few years so I haven't had much time for architecture.

I'd like to get into this area again but to do so I will need to outsourse the majority of work.

Most of the work will be external renders and some 3d floor plans.
You must also beable to create photomontages for planning. (I can provide the photos along with additional data needed to produce the shots.

Ideally I'm looking for a C4D arist but it's not the end of the world if you use Max.
I'm based in Ireland so you need to be based in or near Europe.

Regards.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Corona Sun doesn't work properly

What happens if you let only the sun enabled? Not in Ligthmix but for rendering, with only the sun light enabled? Maybe another light is absurdly strong and MSI is toning down every light in the scene?
Global Volume Mtl by any chance?

Isn't the Highlight Compression operator set to a bit too aggressive value? What happens when you set it to 1.0?

I normally use that value. Here is with highlight compression ser to 1.0. The difference is almost 0.

I don't think "render selected" and selected content from a cloner can work together.
A cloner is a generator, which means that everything inside stops being an indepent object and something new (a collection of clones) is now in existence.

PS
You can always include the cloner as a whole and switch off (traffic lights) specific clones inside.

Including the clone and switching off the useless stuff will work for sure, but I need alpha for the useless parts, so it's not gonna work.
I'm gonna bake an alembic animation I guess

[Max] I need help! / Re: License Server HELL
« Last post by Frood on 2024-05-09, 14:19:11 »
Hi,

glad it seems to work now for you, just to round it up:

Nothing at all regarding license server or unified login is needed on workstations. I'd remove everything. The only important file is vrlclient.xml. The directory and that file are created the first time a node wants to get a license and you need to edit it. Either manually or by "Configure license server address" in the render setup -> "System" tab when Corona is the active renderer (it just calls setvrlservice.exe in the "utils" directory of Corona program files). And that's only needed because Chaos has not implemented a broadcast detection (as the old Corona license system had).

Good Luck

The only things that can play a part are:
Tone map settings, you didn't show us those, the exposure could be way down
Something is blocking the sun, this could be a partially transparent object, or a volume such as fog. In fact, we know the curtains are blocking the sun, so are they set up to allow enough light through? Are the interior lights working normally, what happens if you hide the curtains, that would be how to test if the curtain material is to blame.
The Sun size was changed from the default

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help!

Here are the tone map settings; the exposure is at 0,0.
I searched for something blocking the sun...I've found nothing.
I've hidden the curtains - you can see the strange result with only the sun. The glass is working properly, since the environment lighting works as it should.
