Hi, i work in a small design team and we all work off a server with lots of ssd power. Im wondering if there is a network speed issue when rendering. Does corona and indeed max, have to grab the texture files from the server each time? or does max cache them to the hard disk when it opens the file?
It just seems that despite my machine being ridiculously beefy (2 x xeons with 2 quadro k4000's and 32gb 3000mhz ram) they run quite slow especially in the precalc phases of rendering.

[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Corona slice

It would be very useful for architectural renders to have a Corona slice tool like vray's where it caps off the slice with the colour it slices and only slices at rendertime.
Anyone with me?

I have 4 render blades. all with latest dr server all with activation txt file in correct location as per the freshdesks article. They are replying to pings and showing up in the dr tab on the local machine but when they try and run max dr it never loads and the log says 'recieved no response from 3ds max' . Something i noticed is that before i added the txt file the nodes werent taking a license from the licensing server either. Could there be a problem there? But as i say at the moment they don't seem to be able to launch max and begin rendering.

Any ideas?

Many times ive tried to set up moonlight scenes and struggled to get an accurate look.
Would it be possible to have a setting within corona sun that makes it act like the moon at night when paired with a night coronasky preset? It would save a fair amount of messing around.

Would it be possible to implement a feature whereby the local machine isnt actually used for processing, only assembling the data from the nodes? Id love to be able to continue working on my local machine whilst my nodes are whirring away working on a single image.

Ive been trying to fix the dark bars problem on my dr setup for at least 4 months now and still theres been no real fix and im now 90% sure its down to the dr server not understanding the drive paths on the blade servers. They are mapped with the same name and drive letter and yet the debug exrs are missing the maps ive also tried resolving maps to UNC but it doesnt actually seem to do anything. Is this going to be fixed in the next release? Because ive tried all the fixes posted here over the last few months and both mental ray and vray fork fine on the same file so its definitely a DR Server problem if im not mistaken?

Id appreciate any and all recommendations/help/options anyone knows of that could solve this problem.

Hey, im after a script that will only list the corona materials in my scene. I work frequently with different files and sometimes they get mixed together for a Realtime scene, the realtime viewer doesnt support corona materials so i need to change them to standard before export but in a scene with over 1k materials its hard to find which materials are corona materials.
Is there a script or something that will help me with this?

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Largest Size corona will render?

I got a bad allocation error when trying to render an absolutely gigantic image (21000x35600).
Im going to try a render at a much smaller size but i wondered if there is a limitation somewhere in my system or the software itself that will cause issues with large images?
The image was for a huge wall vinyl if anyone was wondering.

Is it possible? It would be absolutely epic if you could adjust your DOF in the VFB if you had also rendered a Depth Pass. Not sure how many others agree if any?
Would definitely be a cool feature though!

Hi, im reworking an old university project of mine in corona and im struggling to achieve a cinematic moonlight interior shot. Im aware that the light reflected by the moon is the same colour as the sun and that its only perceived as tinted blue because of the way our eyes work but this doesnt translate to screen because your eyes arent seeing raw light theyre seeing something computed and absolute. So how can i achieve that moonlit look without the scene being very very dark. some sort of ambient light maybe?
the scene takes place in an attic. At the moment it just looks like daylight through the skylights.

Bear in mind this is a severely WIP image being converted from mental ray and none of the materials have been remade as of yet.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / geometry motion blur causes crash

Hi, ive been trying to enable geometry motion blur and each time i press render it crashes out with a bug report error. The scene is also using volumetric lighting and a zdepth pass which could maybe be causing a conflict somewhere? But either way at the moment i cant seem to get it to work. is it a known buggy setting?

[Max] I need help! / Autosave frame buffer?

Is there any way to automatically save the frame buffer contents if it detects the shutdown or restart processes are running? Recently I've left renders overnight and came back to a nice windows update and no render.
If this isn't something within corona itself, would it be scriptable in maxscript?

[Max] General Discussion / Corona & large scenes

Hi, I Love corona but theres one thing that really gets me a little frustrated with it. It doesnt handle large scenes as well as vray.
I have a massive scene. about 48 million polys. probably 500+ textures and hundreds of objects. Vray will start rendering within a minute of pressing render but corona takes about 5-7 minutes to do the translating and parsing. Are there any settings within the render settings dialog that can help with large scenes?

So im running 5 hp blades each with max 2014 and they all have gamma disabled as does my main pc.
Im still getting dark bars in my renders and im not sure why.
Any ideas?
Are there any known issues with rendering with HDR environment lighting and DR?
