Hi,

I wanted to share with you my recently publish project. It was made for the Paradyż Designers Contest in 2023. Later on I added animation to it. Took some time to do it so that's why it beng published now.

If you have any questions feel free to ask 😉.

Hardware / Re: Cooling down the i9-14900K

From what I've gathered online is that if you go with say a Noctua D15 (or whatever equivalent from other brands) you'll be fine. Intel's 13th / 14th gen along with Ryzen 7xxx will basically boost into the higher 80s regardless but that doesn't appear to be a problem because we're talking incremental and negligible gains from better cooling (at best).

I'd personally opt for the highest end air cooler reasonable money can buy (like the D15) and I'd feel that'd be a safe choice.

I was thinking of this one so that's going to be my choice :). Thanks.

Hardware / Cooling down the i9-14900K

Hi,

I'm looking for some new workstation build mostly for daily work on a 3d scenes and I thought about the 14900k as it should be pretty snappy. However I wonder on choosing right cooler as there are not many decent reviews when it's running like few days on full load - I'll be doing some long renderings on that also. Does anyone of you have some experience with cooling this cpu?

Now it works like a charm :)

The same problem here.
I have very simple scene where wall material has CoronaTriplanar. If it's on then I have ~60% of cpu usage. When off then it's 100%. Blending value doesn't change anything. I tried 0,0 and 0,5.

Hi,

I guess you're using displacement through the material itself. Did you try with a displacement modifier instead?

I tried both modifier and in the material ifself.

Try string options solution described in this post: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=37612.msg202465#msg202465

It didn't work. However I found out that combination of turning off "Apply displacement autobump" & setting displacement in world size units did the job.

Hi,

I have problem with displacement of the carpet that's visible in the mirror.
There's some kind of dark/light area line.
I saw the topic where similar problem occured in the Cinema 4D and changing to world space solved it. However it doesn't work on my side. It only changes how the problem is visible.

Is there anything I can do about it? I think it's quite common to see displaced areas in the reflection..

Is there any ETA for this feature? Maybe like in the Corona 10?

Guys, why the Pattern: Grid option in ChaosScatter is now missing? It's kinda useful, especially fur rugs, etc.

edit: it's visible now. Don't know what happened..

Majeranek, try the SMT Off and use "Ultimate power mode" if you use Win10. Google out how to unlock it. Outside of that, not much to do. These two have seemingly helped me. Unfortunate thing having to resort to disabling hyper-threading with this machine but what else to do.

I think that these two helped a bit. At least in terms of moving in viewport. Material editor is still slugish... Did you guys tested that on Win11? Maybe that's a game changer or the problem is in the 3ds max?

12
Guys, is there anyway to speed up things with 3ds max viewport, material editor, etc. on TR 3990x?
I have 3990x workstation with 128gb of RAM, GeForce GTX 1080Ti, NVMe SSD, Win10 + some HP Omen Notebook with i5-10300H, 16gb of RAM, GeForce GTX 1660Ti, Win11 and the laptop is much snappier in terms of working on the 3d model... at least when it's not too big. It's a bit frustrating that notebook which is 1/10 of workstation price works faster. The laptop CPU is 0,5GHz faster on one core but would it make such a difference?

I think that there's some problem with translation tab.
For example setting min 0cm and max 50cm on Z axis moves instanced objects just a little bit - like 0,5cm, definietly not 50cm.

Hardware / Re: Hardware optimization?
« on: 2021-12-14, 11:24:10 »
I don't think you'll be able to get any decent OC on that Noctua as the CPU will get really hot. However I'm very curious if you'll manage to do so as I have very similar configuration.

3100Mhz for the CPU is normal, it won't be able to clock 4,3GHz on all cores at the same time. However it's weird that the RAM frequency is 1333Mhz. Have you changed the XMP profiles?

I have different mobo but the layout of CPU Socket and RAM Slots is basicaly the same.

Regarding the temps I don't know if it's good or bad because I've got 3990x. However I would recommend to change the curve, make it 100% rpm running quicker, around 70 degrees.
