Ah that is the right attitude !

Nice work over there. I still think the car paint shader attempt is a bit weak. I know there is no car paint shad ready yet though, but still, downsize a bit the overall effect. Why not going for a plain color car shader instead, just to lift up your top notch work on the optics ? woths it I think.

I guess we have the perfect example of what is made our work of... amazing artists.
Maru achieve that badass shader with an alpha stage render engine while some other artists are a milky way of that using the top of the shelves engine out there for a millemnium... well, almost !

in a word Congrats ! And I missed Brazil so bad for soooo long after it was put to death by some pricks from the fake world of RT...

yeah as we said, not the ideal solution. But in a positive perspective, it is quite cheap in processing ;)

So the results:

Dual Xeons is 6.5/7 fps and 150ms
Dual Opterons is 4.45 fps ish and 246ms

it is weird regarding the two benchs I ran at the office. one on a Dual Xeons 5670 and a Dual Opteron 6272.
The two machine are benching on FRY and CineBench same ish results, around 15 for CineBench.

Here with Corona, we got:

Dual Intel 5670: 3'15"
Dual AMD 6272: 15'01"

Any clue why it is this drastic gap between both system ? They are both running a W7 64 by the way and same specs beside the CPU and RAM.
And the AMD has way more RAM than the INTEL though

the only way to achieve that effect in a procedural kind of thing is to shift 3 shaders with a slightly different fresnel IO for each and set them with the 3 main color you want to see through your effect. Plays with a fallof you tweak and you will approach something good enough to fake. But NOT the right thing though. Was on air for a while before Vray got a decent disp effect available.

Hi Ondra that would be fantastic !
I will push a ticket tomorrow to Robin from uberware.

[Max] General Discussion / CORONA in the futur...
« on: 2014-03-31, 19:52:25 »
Hi Corona dev team !
I do have a question(s) regarding futur of Corona for production.

Is there a standalone scheduled for Linux env ? (I believe that the maya branch of Corona sort of make it a yes, but just a guess)
If yes would we be able to write let say a xxx.cor for sequences render through the stand alone engine in a Linux env ?

Thank you,

Tang

I got that Rawlanche.
I will push for a Corona support in Smedge.
We don't use BB here. period.

Corona Renderer Alpha 4 benchmark scene
 Living room 100 passes
AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6272
Time: 0:15:1, Rays/s: 1,412,458

Well well, here a weird example from Intel to run on AMD...
it is a dual opteron 6272 2.2Ghz with 128 Gig of RAM. All bullshit. This machine bench 14.65 on FRY while the other I posted previously bench 15.02

I am using basic Corona Dr. We don't use BackBurner, too much problem back in a days. If we use our Farm manager, it is Smedge.

30
hey guys,

deploying on the farm here, just being curious of the plus and cons of it.
So far so good, 15 working smoothly up to now with 4 millions poly scene as well as a bunch of decent textures size wise.
another 20 nodes will be servicing Corona within the end of the day, just waiting them to be done on the previous render.
Remind me a lot FRY in matters of speed improvement, well, much faster !

Same scene on a:
Dual Xeon 5650 (24cores @2.6Ghz) : 30min
Farm i7s and xeons - opterons - 15 machines (144cores @ 2.0 > 3.4Ghz) : 6m33s

Awesome work Ondra.
