While a way to render with Vantage is planned for Corona 12, this is not planned to work in a way that would allow it to be an IR replacement, sorry.

just in case somebody wants to create tx format image you can do that easily with this tool from OpenImageIO.
this will convert images to tiled, MIP-mapped textures (tx format)

it would be better to add its folder to user variable PATH in windows system environment to make system-wide accessible.


this has many options and it is indeed a great tool.

you may also find this in Arnold and V-Ray plugin folder for 3dsMax

I just installed the new daily in a separate folder to load Max 2020 with it.

I can't seem to have the clouds working.
Do I need to do anything else other than activating the clouds on the CoronaSky?
I had this issue with latest daily build and merge in new scene or reset or both does not help to resolve it, and i had several times download and install it but does not help either. after checking the installation folder and compare it to setup file i found that the prg cloud dat file had not been copied to corona installation folder so manually copying it to prg sky folder fix the issue for me. perhaps thats the case for you also.

Corona Tone Mapping Wrapper
for 3ds Max Script (Maxscript)

Hello all, this is a wrapper for new Corona Renderer 8 (and upper versions) tone mapping for maxscrip which is a not easy to work with. So, here is my 3ds Max scrip codes to make it easier for others to use this new feature.

Features
- Delete all tone mapping operators
- Get all tone mapping operators and their IDs as an array
- Get the IDs of all tone mapping operators
- Get all tone mapping operators
- Generate a unique random ID that does not exist in the current operators' list
- Get operators' class using its place on tone mapping list
- Get operators' using its place on tone mapping list
- Specify whether the operators' list is empty or not (true or false)
- Delete last operator
- Add operator as last one
- Add operator to a specific place on the list
- Delete operator to a specific place on the list

This render was created as part of my pre-recorded video tutorial series regarding Product rendering about Corona renderer from zero to hero called "Corona College" which is in Persian language.
Everything created with 3ds Max and Corona renderer 8  and Photoshop used only to export for web ;)

This is not something new. It was like that in older versions too. We have this logged as an issue, but no findings / answers / fixes / updates so far, sorry.

This is not really an issue, but it seems that corona color picker is a little bit off in color temp conversion. the corona color map conversion is good enough comparing to black body raw data color in 10 degree.

I also write an osl shader recently for this conversion too using a very accurate algorithm as well it may worth a check by corona team:

Here is two of my OSL shaders for converting Color Temperature in Kelvin to RGB color (in both linear and sRGB).

One of the shaders is based on original version of Tanner Helland algorithm and the other one is based on improved version of it by Neil Bartlett.

The improved version is quite accurate by my comparison with raw data color provided by  Mitchell Charity

These two shaders originally intended for 3ds Max and work with Corona and V-Ray and other engines that support native 3ds Max OSL Map but they might work blender as well. (maybe with a little bit of modification)

using RC2, a very frustrating issue I have with it is that when I open my saved cxr renders (that actually render with rc2) by CIE the tone mapping completely ignored and a different one applied almost 7 times out of 10 times that I opened my images. Additionally, there are times that my saved config files does not apply to tone mapper and again ignored by CIE so I am forced not to use the tone mapping and do that in fusion. it is fine if there is one or two image but when it is more it is very annoying to manually change every value and curves for each images.
