why does the memory have to be that fast? I was told it's about the amount, the speed of the memory doesn't do alot in the rendering field?

Hey Guys;

I have a question for rendering animations.

Im checking the expenses for buying render/work stations, with either

2x the AMD threadripper 1950X 16c/32t or

1x the AMD threadripper 2990WX 32c/64t.

See attached.

It's much cheaper to buy one big computer with the 2990WX since I dont need to buy everything else 2x like the motherboard etc

Can someone advise. Is using 1 computer for an animation going to work as good as 2x computers, with double the capacity in CPU cores?

how about adding a background per camera... this makes batch rendering useless atm in my project :(

If you are using forest pack pro, can I also point out that using "edge" mode in the area parameters is definitely one of those things you don't want to be using. Transforming vertices and parsing scene will take ages.

this works, but this doesn't speed up the process, sending them to the backburner again from 1 max file is faster then opening 6 max files and saving over them..

I accidentaly sent alot of renders to the backburner with the render-region still active. It would help if I had the option to turn off region-rendering when in backburner. So out of curiosity; is there ever going to be a connection between corona and backburner to additionaly change settings afterwards or is this opening pandora's box for developers? :P

Friend, it's not because YOU didn't have any troubles in YOUR projects, that he/she won't.

Romullus is right, just don't switch this project if there isn't anyhthing extra you might use, copy past the file when done and save a new file for the new corona version and see then if you are good to go or not.

Kudos to the development team, I don't THINK you'll have problems. But if you do, reverting is a pain in the ass, if it's even possible.

EXTRA: I just saw they added 14 extra days if you switched to the 2 version, to your trial.

"For those of you who have tried Corona before and your 45-day trial expired, we've automatically refreshed the demo period to give everyone an extra 14 days so you can try out all the new features! Simply download and install Corona Renderer 2, and you can activate the refreshed demo period right from within 3ds Max. Enjoy!"

So mayby if you can finish the project before your trial ends, install the 2 version and get an extra 14 days to try it out.

Can someone tell me (who is using substance designer) how easy the pipeline is between the substance designer software and max / corona? Im not sure if I should be investing buying these materials on cgtextures. Is this story of creating materials going to stick?

I'm a little paranoid.

especially if u take into account AMD is bring out Threaripper 2 in Q3 of this year, with a whopping 32Cores and 64Threads (TR4 architecture still!) -

I'm holding off my investment into 2x Threadrippers atm, I want to know how cheap / expensive the threadripper 2 will be...

Heya, can you shed some light on your configuration? I'm investing in 2x extra threadrippers as well - any reason why you're going to AMD? Didn't Intel come with a counterpart for the threadripper?

well yeah... I like how the IR "render" in the sense that when zooming into a region it can quickly solve those places. Production renderer has this to, but once IR is going, the "way" it renders and solves noise is much faster to my senses then the production renderer.

I dont have a 4K monitor, is why i'm asking if it's possible to ask IR to render 4K on a 2K screen?

I tried the celullar map shader and it worked fine, then suddenly started displacing in a very weird way.

I changed only the value of the displacement amount in the corona displacement modifier on top of the opbject?

ok solved... minus and plus need to be the same opposites.
