Is there an internal library and how do you load materials from it.

Hi, there isn't a material library with the cinema release. We do hope to add one in a future release. If you're looking for a large free collection I would suggest the following site: www.corona-materials.de

As stated above...

Also, an existing thread here: Material Library in C4D?

and another link from Corona Resources/ Materials:

SIGERSHADERS™ for Corona | Cinema 4D

To use put into your browser library folder and use Content browser.

When I unzipped the rar file fron corona-materials.de there was a c4d file inside. Before i unzipped it I replaced the - with_. Is this the correct way to do it? Thank you for the links and advice.

Which one?
Post a link to it so others can test and give you feedback. We're not telepathic yet ;)

wow - two years on from the first post and still no library for c4d users.

i'm really starting to regret buying this renderer as i have lost so much time trying to work out simple tasks without any useful documentation or relevant tutorials.

And yet in those 2 years this is your first post here! Why struggle when you can ask for help?

Corona has never provided a "decent" library of materials but there are some. they cater to 3dsmax anyway so I suggest either moving to 3dsmax b4 you learn too much in c4d or accept that c4d gets the bare minimum attention from everything. models, materials, plugins, etc...
