Still not finished. Icons will be replaced, hover effect will be fixed, and UI color won't be derived from Max UI scheme anymore.

Oh crap, i recorded video, uploaded it to YT, and was ready to start my complaint about buttons highlighting inconsistency... just to find that? Arrrgh! :]

I don't know what that comprimation is, you talking about, i guess it's compression, right? Anyway, i did some more tests as requested. Everything is saved from photoshop, source file doesn't contain any layers nor alpha channels (gif and png doesn't support alpha channel anyway). Bmp is provided for reference.
Results are quite confusing, at least for me:

[Max] General Discussion / Opacity tex comparison

I was making some foliage textures for personal use recently. Saved all maps to png format and begin to construct material. Soon enough i found that my material performs rather poor in therms of speed. Naturally, i blamed opacity map. Tried different tricks, but nothing really helped. So i decided to resave opacity texture to other format and to my surprise, i saw significant improvement. All other formats rendered much quicker... all except png and gif. Later i found out that transparency in those formats is what causing problems. But most interestingly is that gif saved without transparency shows massive improvement in render speed! So from now on, i'll use gif for opacity maps exclusively.

There's no benefit nor drawback. You are using it all the time, want it or not.
It really helps to have at least basic understanding what Exposure and Exposure Value (EV) is:

Exposure
EV

Thanks crawlewis. You render looks so sharp that I thought you removed the image filter to add some sharpness.

Interesting that you didn't use any Photographic Exposure. Great result.
This isn't correct. Zero is just another exposure value, like 1 or -1 or any other number.

I don“t have use portals.
You should. It shouldn't give you any visual difference but should speed up your rendering about 3-5 times. :)

3-5 times speed up from portals alone? Are you sure?

I strongly suggest to fix hdri by painting sun in photoshop, instead of changing gamma. You'll get much superior results this way.

1. your diffuse is too bright (220 is like fresh snow).
2. possibly your hdri haven't enough dynamic range captured in it.

[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Colour selector values

It woud be great that Corona's colour selector values would be in 0,0-1,0 rather than in 0-255 range, like they are in mental ray colour selector. Currently, if i want to fine tune colour, i have to use CoronaSolidTex, but it's not very convenient this way.

What i miss in Corona's vfb, is this or similar funcionality:

It would be nice to know if it'll happen someday.

p.s. don't ditch blue accents from vfb, i like it very much :]

It would be nice that people could do a little search before asking questions ;]
