In the latest releases of corona is it still necessary to disable denoising when saving/creating a UHD file?

Thank you. -Alex

As far as I know, disabling the denoiser to save the UHD cache even with rendering 1 pass is mostly because there is no need for it, but I may be wrong. Frankly I don't bother disabling it when working with high parsing still images and saving the UHD cache, because of constant production render testing. Never had an issue, can't say the same on animations, never tried.

Was it ever necessary? Where did you find such information?
Denoising is a post-effect, applied on the rendered image. It does not have anything to do with the UHD Cache.

Hi Maru,
I got the information from an official Corona video. Here: Video goes to the current frame where it is said "turn off denoising to avoid an error message"

I don't know if its necessary, since I haven't tested and examine the file for any type of flickering or abnormality. Since I follow this rule, because it's in the video, I find annoying that in the rush of things I forget to disable the denoiser (my fault).

So lately I been asking myself, is this step even necessary?? Can I skip it?

The error message is just "You need at least 2 passes to run denoising", which is just a potentially annoying error message to get when calculating the UHD cache (but doesn't affect calculating the cache in any way). Up to you whether you find it easier to disable denoising and avoid the error message, or leave it on and have an error message pop up that you have to "ok" through :)
