If these are repetitive 3d assets Dump it all in one folder, proxies, textures and point caches. Obviously you'll need a software like "design connected connector" to treat the folder as a tubular database.

Best pratice is have a textures folder that's project based (only for that project). Then have this secondary repository I mentioned above for all your go to 3d assets.

Why I am getting these same errors across my render servers?

Ok.

Originally I asked to make an animation button and then this will go through a short algorithm to set it up at frame 0.

Thank you

The 4K Cache is not related to animation or still, though. It is usually best for stills AND for animations. Animations benefit from saving and reloading the cache, but that is true whether UHD or 4K Cache is used (all about not recalculating the cache for every frame).

4K Cache is not related to animation, then in the next sentence you mentioned is best for animations. I am confused.

if 4k Cache is not for animation then why does it have a "Animation (flicker free) Radio button?

It should be one button.

If there is a need to simplify it have a check box that says "Is this a still or a animation" if=animation then make a 4k cache.

This is a recreation from the video game Myst from 1993. This conceptual rendering re-imagines walking through the Myst Island.

Hi Alex,

those 1 to 6 would be a special case where you have tiny cam movement and no animated objects/lights in your scene. The standard procedure would be setting up the scene to render all frames, but with "Every Nth Frame" set to something reasonable (maybe 10), then "Try to load + append" with "Save to file" activated and a file name (accessible by all nodes) and animation activated for the cache.

Then "Load from file" with render settings for production and "Every Nth Frame" set to the required one (usually 1, depending on production workflow).

So all in all the requirements are very different, making it hard to automate things. Maybe you can look into the "Preset" feature of render setup, you could create a "precalc" and a "production" preset for the project.

Btw: Corona still saves into the light cache file using "Iterative" render mode (not "Interactive"), which is a violation of the idea of iterative rendering and can easily destroy a laborious created light cache file if you are not aware. Your post reminded me to report this.

Good Luck

Yes, I believe it can be automated from the render panel, even at Every Nth Frame. That's why I was asking Ondra if he can make this happen. If you want an animation, just  check a box, and let the software do all those clicks and minor set up.

Ondra,

Is it possible to add this feature:

When the user clicks UHD Cache or 4K Cache and specify the cache location. The Cache file will automatically generate from a specified frame or frame 1 as "Calculate from scratch" and then it automatically proceeds to render from a "load from file" cache file in backburner or any network renderer.

I think its waste of time and focus to do these repetitive steps. It helps because when a user is in a deadline and is about to render its important to maintain focus. It could be that the user happens misses to one of these mundane steps and the cost is always go back to 1 and repeat or it creates a user error and mess up the Cache.

1. Set animation to single in the common file
2. Go to Scene> Progressive Rendering Limits>Past Limit =2
3. Go to Performance>Cache>Precomputation=Calculate from Scratch
4. Click Render
5. Go to Performance>Cache>Precomputation=Load From File
6. Go back to Common panel>Time Output Frames = Range

Hi Romulus, that's a lot of work it could take days. There's 500 of these, see attachment.

General CG Discussion / Re: Vantage and Corona

If I may suggest, I would put this on top of the list. A lot people now wanna play with the Chaos tools. Congrats on Cosmos, that was a great move! Although I have licenses to Vray I don't plan to switch over my work to another renderer. They work almost the same, but I have to say the other side is greener and there's Vantage integration.

Can I get Vantage for Christmas?

Revit models are usually modeled in such a way to produce plans, elevation and sections. But 99% of the time they are not visualization ready. So it is expected that the visual artist has to do some model embellishment, this happens usually on top of what's already modeled and I think its huge time saver because we don't have to work out a lot things dimensionally speaking. So if I can give you some advice based on experience, always expect that the model needs your artistic touch. I guess entering the project with this mindset might alleviate some of harsh feelings and enter the project like a creative problem solver.

Ketchup, yeah that modeling is usually pretty gnarly. I hear some people in forums charge extra, because it's time consuming. When I see ketchup I know that I have to re-model it for sure.

Well most artists today are now generalists and scene developers. Most save time on a project by not modeling and go to turbosquid to get the job done.  There is talk about AI replacing this and that and yeah that shit coming out midjourney is really cool and creative looking. But it's just unusable trash.

I hear people say"its going to guide me to do better artwork" well what about observing what has been done by creative minds, by the minds of the humans with true emotions and uncertainties, their struggles, their stories, what shaped them etc. That's true beauty, and far more dimensional than what an algorithm spits out. And it's more of an algorithm than AI because it all looks the same, I am talking about midjourney of course.

In regards to this modeling tool, its really cool I dig it! I could use for modeling mundane things like an old shoe or something like that. Mundane things that don't require a lot thought process. But my brain and soul aspires to keep design and creation part as my personal works. I would like to keep thinking and dreaming for my self-worth.

I came across a similar situation. I had to model a bunch cookie cutter type houses for a background scene. It was literally thousands of houses. I modeled about 20 types of configurations to the lowest polygon count possible. As you can see in the explainer video I didn't even bother to do thickness on the walls, Finally I applied material randomizers on the roof and walls. I used railclone as you can see in the video it automatically degrades to point cloud when it reaches a high threshold.

Once I modeled the whole scene modeled I didn't open for the rest of the project since it was an xref and the master file was parked in the render manager/backburner. Whenever I needed to render an update I just reactivated the job and it picked up the xref automatically. I do these little short clips for myself to remind me of the dumb stuff I do. :D

[Max] I need help! / Add CoronaRaySwitch to 500 materials

I have a photogrammetry of a city and I would like to add a CoronaRaySwitch in white for Global Illumation slot. Does anyone out there know how to do this on 500 materials?
