We have a boxx off station that we used to render with mental ray but since the corona upgrade we are unable to use the boxx to render anymore. Are we missing a plug in with corona or something or is it an issue with the boxx itsself?

Can you share more info about not being able to render? Does the machine not show up as a node in DR, or Backburner for example, or is there a crash or error message?

This is the error message we receive when attempt to send it to the boxx. We also noticed that our license is currently only for 3 nodes and we have all three on work computers but not one on the boxx computer. Is that also causing the error?

The license would cover you for 1 workstation and three additional render nodes - so through backburner you could have up to 4 machines rendering (if you have the workstation rendering too).

In case anything is amiss with the licensing set up, these helpdesk links may help:

Be sure that all machines have the same version of Corona installed, have the same version and Service Pack of Max and Backburner installed, plus the same version of any 3ds Max plugins used.

Hope something here helps!

For the boxx, do we need a workstation license to get the boxx to render or do we add a node from each of our stations to the boxx to send renders from our stations?

Hello, what's the status of this?

I am sorry, but I don't understand this whole setup. Can you please explain more? How does your network look? What is this "boxx" you are mentioning? We are not really familiar with all of that...

You have to make sure that all your computers are licensed. Here is more information on our node and workstation licenses:

The error in your screenshot looks like some kind of Backburner or network adapter error.

I currently work with the guy that created this post.

We currently take architectural models from Revit and export an FBX and put them into 3DS Max and apply materials and landscaping.  From 2012-2016 we used the Mental Ray feature that comes with 3DS Max. Due to rendering times and the quality of Mental Ray images, we purchased a Boxx rendering node (this node was attached to a computer in our server room that has 3DS Max, that we sent all the renderings to using the Backburner, and it would monitor the renderings and kick the new ones off as the they were completed).  We then upgraded (that word is an understatement) to Corona Render and have been rendering the scenes individually on our personal machines.

We are looking to utilize the investment that we made in the Boxx RenderNode.  If we put a licensed copy of Corona on the machine in our server room that is hooked up to our Boxx node, continue to use 3DS Max and Corona and send them to the computer attached to the Boxx, will it open the scene with Corona and use the power of the Boxx to render bigger, faster and so forth.

Does that help any?
