this is my result so far...
i'm sure the leather material could be better. but i'm quite happy with the result.
in addition i put some imperfections like dust and fingerprints on it.

@Mac3DX me, too.

i'm working on a grip with leather material > see attached images.
can't set up the material properly with bump/displacement, reflection etc. it looks like plastic :o(
> projection is boxmapping. and triplanar is doing a strange job here, too!? also tried to unwrap the mesh, bring it in photoshop etc. but it was a mess.

maybe someone can help me creating a realisitic leather material, which is circulating the grip naturally/seamlessly (like the example shows)

We have this one (or a related one) on the internal bug tracker - from what I've seen so far, it looks like if Noise maps are used in more than one channel / material, then changing anything about the Noise makes the material render yellow until IR is restarted. Changing the Noise did used to cause a crash, but doesn't seem to any more (for me, in the Beta 2 RC1, the crash seems to have stopped). I've added a link to this thread to the internal bug report, so that the info here can be taken into consideration (and hopefully we can reply here when we have a fix for it :) )

it still happens in c4d r23 and corona 8, hotfix 1.

there is another point i wanna bring in...
at the moment i'm struggeling with bump and displacement in case of "uvw mapping" and "box mapping". when using uvw, the bump or displacement seems to be fine. changing the same material to "box mapping" seems to make the bump or displacement softer or even inexistent.

are you aware of this? is it a bug or just a user related problem?

i have a problem loading cosmos browser. it shows blank (white) in c4d > see attachement
it also happens in c4d r25. corona 8, newest daily build (rc3), is installed.
no error messages while installation, nor in c4d.

does anybody have the same issue? maybe i am missing something...!?
ps: license is activated and loaded

here's what my machine rendered...see attachment (mac pro 5.1 2010, 2 x 6-core 3.46ghz, 128ram, c4d r25)

impressive render time from philw's threadripper...amazing! but i must say, piredude's mac studio ultra is fast, too. could be a venerable successor for my 12-year-old "cheese grater".

i think y'all should use the corona benchmark for comparison. there's only one result yet:

would be nice to see more users testing their mac studio like this.

for comparison:
my mac pro (5.1, 2010) 2x6 core, 3.46 ghz, 128gb ram needs approx. 2 minutes for the benchmark scene.
