It would be better to provide screenshots, scene files, etc., to understand the issue better, as right now, we cannot be sure about the whole scene setup.
If you prefer, you can send us your scene project (including all assets) by submitting a support ticket instead.
We'll need as much information as possible to provide a more accurate POV/solution.

It is a competition entry, so I could send (or show) some files only when the results will be published...But we had the same problem in an older project (standard file needed some hours, lightmix version (with the same lights!!!) never(!) denoised)...I will  have to look for this file!

Are you setting a noise limit instead of a time/pass limit?

We had no time / pass / noise limits in the described case!

Hello,

I don´t understand the lightmix:
-One image renders nice and after the render you´ve the possibility to save the image with interior lights switched on and another version with lights off inside the building for example
-Another image with lightmix  just doesn´t lose the noise, and after hours of render we see the disaster and have to restart the render without lightmix  and go the standard way = adjust the lights before and no adjustments afterwards!

It´s nice to use lightmix for previews, so we can change the sun-HDRIs and switch interior lights on/off for tests in the scene or previews...
But a time ago already I noticed that it´s not a good idea to have two or more hdris as different >light-selects< of lightmix in the final render as the image often just didn´t lose the noise...
So we now only have a sun light-HDRi and different groups of interior lights as light-selects, to adjust the lighting inside aftterwards...
But even this method is a risk: in the last projects finished two days ago I noticed after 3 hours of render that there just won´t be less noise. We stopped and switched the lightmix off, indeed it was the solution!... Next day I started this lightmix render again as a test and after 15 hours it was still noisy (particularly areas inside the building and glass objects) although the same scene (same lights but without lightmix!) was noisefree after 3-4 hours...
There is something wrong with lightmix.... to avoid surprices we will probabl only use it for testing/previews but avoid it in final renders now ...Really disappointing such usability problems :(...

I just wanted to test it, but I see I don´t have this additional distribution option(?) (image below).
Perhaps because I´m on C4D R20 (your layout looks a little different)?

I tried to use a noise in the opacity channel of the distribution plane but of course it did not work as the real geometry stayed the same.
So no solution for me (only the provisional one described) and I´ve to wait for build9 .

If I load a daily-build from the link in the thread about version 9 development: Is the installer working the same way like  in the official builds? ...and is it stable enough for professional work?

why don´t we have the option to set up the distribution by a map (shader/texture/noise) in Chaos scatter?..or do I overlook it and such option exist someway?
Max-version has such an option. In the slot where you indicate the>count<, there is also a possibility to use a map.
I think it´s really essential.
By now we found a provisional workout: In the tab >transformations< we can include the scale and there is a slot for a map there:
So we define the scale from 0 to 100% and use a noise as a map: In black areas of the noise the instances have scale=0, in the white ones full-size. But I suppose the instances stil exist in balck areas, even if the scale=0 make them invisible, so they are calculated there so it has surely an impact on render time? What do you think?
With this methode we can also no more use the scale-transformation for size-variation, so it´s a weak solution.

What is the reason we don´t have a map for distribution like the Max version? Will it be implemented?

Hello,

how can I improve the bump?
Tried with bump mask and normal mask, bump channel and corona normal shader:
The problem: In shady zones the bump effect is almost washed out...It looks really not natural, as it would be another material there :(.
Does corona-bump only work in directly illuminated areas?
Please look at the example attached.

...thanks, but when starting C4D I always get a Corona-window with request-code and an empty field for the activation code...so I went to the file or pasted it from the token-file ;)!

I´m not sure if my workflow is right?

I start the licencing server, write in the two fields my email and password of my corona-account (There is a third field "log:"?)
Then I start C4D and a request code is generated.
A new generated txt-file (token for stable C4D or similar) with activation code appears in C:\Users\main\AppData\Local\CoronaRenderer\
I copy/paste this code or click "use activation-file" and browse to the txt-file.

Right?

Result "Wrong activation code" :(

Hi Houska,

I´ve postet already what was in the LicencingLog.txt....Isn´t it the log?
I think the connection works well, because after a request-code is generated I get new files in C:\Users\main\AppData\Local\CoronaRenderer\ and one of them is a "token" with an activation-code..but this one is not accepted(???)....

Why doesn´t it work for me?

I installed (PC) Beta 1 (Corona 1,7)...when running the licensing server with my email and password and starting C4D it generates fresh files in C:\Users\main\AppData\Local\CoronaRenderer\
...for example a file with the request code and also a token with the activation code..But this code doesn´t work!

Tried to:
-read the activation-file (token file with the code)
-copy/ paste the code from the token -file into activation form
-creating new tex-file CoronaActivation.txt and pasting the activation code inside (I´ve seen in LicencingLog that it`s first searching for such a file...
Nothing! Every time: "Wrong activation code!"

The day after I looked the render and there was the image in the Picture Viewer but the Corona VFB was completely empty, like I never start a render. So I don't have any multipass.
Normally I started the render in PV because I use a plugin for the queue render that doesn't work if I use VFB.

Hi Snowman,
when you have this problem, why don´t you go in Picture viewer to the save dialog and save the rendered image as photoshop with layers checked on...then you get a PSD-file with all the passes from corona inside as layers.

Yes, testing should be done with Feb 20th daily build - that was the build where the fix was introduced. Things seem to have become a bit muddled here (at least for me) - could anyone confirm if they have the Feb 20th daily build installed, do they still see an NANs (black dots) in their renders?

I´v already confirmed ;))) some posts before, that the scene here that always(!) produced black dots rendered overnight without problems with the build from 20.02.

Hope you can help us with that as you were great to deliver a such great engine for Cinema4d.

Here attached screenshot of today’s scenes rendered with Corona 4 daily build in auto mode for the light solver, with black dots still there.

Hi DRM-Max,

Our scene that always produced black dots works fine now (without additional solutions lika scalable light).
I´ve seen in your screenshot that yiu installed the build from 24.01 (that I also downloaded first mistakenly ;))..there is another one in the same link provided here in thread that is from 20.02(!), we installed finally!!!
Perhaps you should install this one = the last one!
