Condensation Set Up

(1/1)

mitchino:
I'm trying to create condensation on a can and running into problems. I can get it working using the mograph cloned droplets technique, but I want to try using displacement and or normal maps. I have tried stacking two materials, and also creating a layered material, but the droplets never look like liquid and distort the underlying texture on the can.

I found this thread which has the same question, and the poster never gets the correct answer. https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=21556.0

What is the correct set-up material wise to get droplets on a surface using normal or displacement maps? Can it be done in Corona?

Merlin:
Try texture
in bump, normal and maybe displacement canal...
this one or another:

mitchino:
Sorry, I already have textures, I just want to know the best approach for combining the can material and droplet material? layered material, stacked materials or separate mesh?

romullus:
I think separate meshes is the only solution here. Water droplets are refractive and can material is visible through them. Since single surface can't have properties of two wastly different materials, you need to introduce second surface. Even better solution would be make droplets with actual geometry and scatter them on can body.
