Does anyone tried the E5 V3 Bios MOD to enable Max turbo on all cores ? I'm quite interested to do that on my dual 2683 v3 setup but i just want to be sure that it's pretty safe.

Yes I have modded two X99 systems. One is a E5-2686v3, other E5-2683v3. Both single cpu setups with Asrock motherboards, so it was easier than on other brands or dual cpu.
The 2686v3 runs ar 2.8GHz on all cores (and up to ~2.9 if OCd by bclk), but around 2.6 when using Corona. (a bit more than before unlock)
The 2683v3 goes to 3.0GHz on all cores, and around 2.8 with Corona.
All in all, it works. From what I've read, the current best option is E5-2696v3 as it boosts all cores past 3GHz. It would need a good cooler, but should be the best price/performance cpu with the unlocked bios.

What about the temp increase ? that's what i'm afraid.. I have two NH-U12dx with dual fan setup, it could be a little too undersized.

Jann:
My 2686v3 with CM Hyper 212 Evo never goes above 65c on hottest core, even when under full load + gpu heat. Before mod it was about 4-5c cooler.
Friends 2683v3 was running a bit hotter with the same cooler, but our case/cooling setup is different. He got a H115i for a very good price, and now under full cpu+gpu load never goes above 42c (overkill cooler, but the price was really good).

However, as I wrote, the 2696v3 does heat up more from what I've read and talked to people.
So my suggestion would be to get a good air cooler for 2683 or 2686, and maybe a 240-280mm AiO like the H115i if you get the 2696 ;)

Thanks for your feedback Jann. I already own the dual 2683 v3 setup, on ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS, cooled with NH-U12DX dual fan (push/pull). My hottest cpu (which receive hot airflow from the first one) never go above 63°C on hottest core, so with an approx. 5°C increase, it should still be fine.

Once done, will I be able to revert back to default BIOS setup ? (I guess I will but it is just to be sure)
