Title: Normal Map error message wrongly shows up
Post by: lupaz on 2024-03-13, 15:36:36
Hi.

A minor bug it seems.

Scene attached.
Video below.

On scene open and until I plug something else into the material, I get the message "===== Warning(22) =====
A normal map appears to be using input image with incorrect gamma. This can cause shading artifacts.
Map with the problem: "Map #2138799162"

As you can see on the video, the message is not related to the normal map itself, and it goes away after plugging in the only slot that was not plugged in.

Hi,

This issue seems to be fixed in the new Corona 12 DB. Can you please try it and let me know if the problem persists?

You can download the latest Corona 12 DB from here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=41598.0 (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=41598.0)

Hi Avi,

This issue seems to be fixed in the new Corona 12 DB.

It's not fixed using current DB here, but it behaves differently using Max 2024, maybe you used that one for testing:

Try to close the material editor before opening the example file and disable material editor rendering. Then load file, start rendering and you get the warning message. Then: open material editor, activate material rendering, make sure you see the swatches of the triplanar input nodes and zoom a bit in and out. The material previews get updated and the warning message is gone when starting to render from now on.

Using Max 2023 and current daily behaves exactly like lupaz showed it.

Good Luck

It's probably not related to the issue, but i noticed that you're normal map node is in incorrect position. When using it in combination with triplanar and/or mapping randomizer, it should be set up as input for those maps, not output.
