[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: Support for Cinema's Node System
« on: 2022-06-09, 22:47:06 »

Arnold does this just fine using the reference node. I'm sure this would be possible for the Corona developers to implement under the NEW node system. Seems like pretty basic functionality, although for me I don't really like my materials sharing the same data.

[C4D] Daily Builds / Support for Cinema's Node System
« on: 2022-06-09, 18:00:11 »

Now that Cinema's NEW node system is fully developed and has become the standard way to build materials in Arnold, Vray and Redshift I'm just wondering / hoping, when will Corona support the NEW node system? Considering Corona's stellar C4D integration I would imagine that this is a high priority now that it is fully possible.

The currently implementation of nodes in Corona is great and very clever but I see this as the main drawback of using Corona in C4D since under the hood it is still using Cinema's legacy layer based shading system and I still find it very difficult and buggy to use. Particularly I have issues with the very old layer shader, it never seems to work correctly for me. Not to mention the way undo's are handled seems to not work that well either.

Seems that many of these issues could be solved by supporting the NEW node system that has been implemented across the entire application now. Just waiting for updated xpresso nodes I suppose or maybe they will start to intergrade xpresso functionality inside of Scene Nodes.

Anyhow, would love to know if there will be any developments in this area of Corona for C4D. Either way Corona is still the best looking renderer on the market IMO.

[C4D] Resolved Feature Requests / Volume Builder as VDB?
« on: 2022-03-08, 18:13:56 »

Is there a way currently to use the Volume Builder as a VDB without having to export it as such? Also are overlapping VDBs not supported yet?

[C4D] I need help! / Re: rendering from VFB to C4D or PSD

+1 All of this. Would love to see ALL of the color management fixed / updated in Cinema / Corona. Having to use Arnold a bunch lalty and the color management in Arnold works very well and seems to bypass Cinema's limitations on that front (Picture Viewer). Who knows when we'll see native OCIO support but we need that ASAP.

Hey Merlin. I would encourage you to check out the latest beta versions and see if they fix any of the issues you are having. Remember Corona is a state of the art render engine and the C4D development is coming along great.

Make sure you un-check (render perfect on the sphere)

While I'm loving the speed of the internal volume feature, there seems to be a big discrepancy between the preview and the final render??

Love these renders!

X-Particles really should get basic support :) Every other 3rd party engine supports it in one way or another. The X-Particles team have done such an awesome job in making it feel like a built in tool that it might as well be part of Cinema.

Even if we can get some super basic rendering support that would be enough to hold Corona over until it could be more fully developed.

Awesome! Yeah I know they've mentioned it and I'm stoked it's possible to implement!

I guess I'm waiting patiently... Please let me know if I can do any testing of any developer builds.

Any news on a fisheye camera in Corona!?

Thanks guys!

I just think having real scale values would be nice... Pretty bummed about the loss of 3D mapping.

I hope this is temporary... One of Corona's strengths is that it fully supports Cinema's procedural shaders.

Are you guys saying that do to the "new" bump mapping implementation you won't be able to use 3D texture mapping of noises and more? I really hope this is not the case...

Hi Shawn,

I'm afraid that this is the case. We can either do all the bump map calculations ourselves and then we're not able to use other modes than 2D UV in noise, or we can use the C4D bump mapping calculations (i.e. the "old" bump mapping code) and support all the options of C4D noise. This is not definite, we might be able to do something about it, but so far it seems like the only possible solution would be to default to the old code for all other modes of C4D noise.

Speaking about the new bump mapping - do you have any other remarks and comments? Something that we should change/fix, etc...?

is noise in the bump-channel only suppose to work in 2d space?

Yes, unfortunately, noise will only work with the UV option now.
