[Max] Resolved Bugs / Re: Adaptive Light Solver Issues
« on: 2020-11-13, 18:35:39 »
Yea, 2.5D displacement sucks, and in the latest v7 daily the "old" 3D displacement is removed. So I realy hope 2.5D gets some serious overhaul.

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: Toon Outlines
« on: 2020-10-20, 15:29:13 »
Asked for this for several years now, but seems like it is very low priority :(
But absolutely +1 for this.

BTW - you can vote it up in the "most wanted feature" thread.

Absolutely +1 for both material and object ID.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: infinity mirror error?
« on: 2020-10-07, 18:20:43 »
Totally agree with TomG. This is not a visualization problem, but a design problem - if it's not intended. So do you client a favor and show the infinite mirror rendering.

OK :) Thanks.

Thanks. But it looks like the material library is the same? Or maube im looking the wrong place (the daily-builds site)?

Hi. Sounds like OP request the exact "Clamp" feature from v6. Repeating the last pixel is what differentiates v6 "Clamp" from 3dsMax's "No Tiling".

83
Hi. I haven't checked it, but I honestly don't think that Corona does this. I've converted plenty of materials with 3dsMax's colorcorrect without this happening.

Yes. I don't think the converter works with Redshift mtl

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Wide panorama picture?
« on: 2020-09-17, 00:13:14 »
Hi. I think a cylindrical 360 or 180 panorama should do the job, if you crop out the top and bottom after the rendering.

Hope it helps

[Max] I need help! / Re: Scene Setting Help
« on: 2020-09-15, 19:30:34 »
Hi. If you're getting warnings about running out of RAM, then that's definately one of reasons to slow rendering - even very slow rendering.

Another reason often seen, is "wrong" or "bad" material set up. It's not always enough to convert the materials automatically from VRay, so check out these materials.

Unlike most CAD-programs 3DsMax doesn't handle hundreds of thousand objects very well, just like it doesn't work well with objects far from drawing origin. So keep as much as possible as instanced objects, merge objects together (not the same as grouping), and make sure that the whole model is close to 0,0,0

Hope it helps

Hi. Could be causeret by so many reasons, that one can only guess without more information.

Some things to check out:
- how does it render with Coronas default settings?
- are the instances kept (like acad blocks), or are they all turned into thousands of separate unique objects?
- are you using refraction in material where translucency should be used in stead (for example in the fern material)?
- are you running out of RAM?
- how is your light set up (Corona sun & sky or HDRI)?

Please give us some more info :)

Hi. The "Clamp" that rowmanns is refering to, is a new tilling mode. So instead of "No tiling" it should be set to "Clamp". This makes the Corona bitmap act like the 3ds Bitmap set to no tiling.

Hope it helps

Looks very convincing :) Since OP uses C4D, I think that a screenshot of the material settings would be great also.

Agree. I often need to go back to the "old" displacement method, because 2.5D gives to many artifacts. Sometimes tesselation before displacement helps, but not always.

Would be great to see a fix for this.

Regards
