[Max] I need help! / Re: Unstable calculation

TY Tizanio!

Glad you found OBS useful! I think it is great (I use it for recording tutorials).

So it only happens when the mouse passes over into a 3ds Max viewport, from what I can see.

Is it only happening in this scene, or in all scenes? If only this one, then it sounds more like scene specific than related to the mouse. If all scenes, could be the mouse, it could be sending out some signal that makes Max treat it as an update to the scene.

If I encountered this, I'd test with a different scene. If it stops happening with other scenes, any unusual plugins or materials in the scene? Something is indicating that there's a change in the scene, so wondering if there's anything in there that might be actively refreshing whenever the mouse passes over a viewport?

If it still happens with other scenes, could unplug the mouse entirely and enable mouse keys (http://www.isunshare.com/windows-10/2-ways-to-turn-on-mouse-keys-in-windows-10.html) and see if the issue still occurs.

Others may have other suggestions too!

I can say with hand on heart that it's the first render I've ever seen of a halfway melted wine gum Napoleon :) As you say, concept dev can take you to all sorts of strange - but wonderful! - places. TY for sharing how it was done :) And now I crave sweets again!

I always think of the top / bottom (ie left eye / right eye) images as two separate renders that happen at once - which means any background will indeed appear in full in both (rather than it being one render, where the background would be stretched across both left and right eye results)

Never tried compositing onto an already-stereo image, but my first thought would be to render without the background, just getting the 3D object with an alpha, and recombine in post (stereo output of 3D object with background as an alpha on top of the stereo footage.) A non-stereo version of the background would be used to get reflections etc, and a shadow catcher for catching shadows onto the table.

Have never tested it though - may give it a try and see!

Hi all!

Last year we conducted some interviews with leaders in the architectural visualization industry, and today part 1 of the interview with Recent Spaces is out:

Thanks!

In case it is useful for anyone, I use OBS Studio, which is free and screen captures to mp4 etc, can find out more here - https://obsproject.com/

I know personally after an occurrence of a trojan for someone here on the forums, I won't be opening any .exes, just to be super safe! There may be others who are similarly reluctant to open anything with executable code in it too, not sure, I can only speak for myself there - but I would guess more people will take a look if it doesn't involve running code to view it.

Is it possible to have the file in a standard movie format (mp4 for example, or mov) rather than an exe? I am always wary of running any exes :)

Does this mean there's a market for a new type of plugin, the Image Worsifier, guaranteed to downgrade the quality of your images and introduce as many artifacts as possible?

5094
Awesome, ty! I hope you get some good feedback!

A quick FYI, I get a "doesn't exist" when I click on the survey link.

Most welcome!

Thanks to the excellent Blender to Corona exporter, it's easy to use the free Corona Standalone with Blender. Here's a video guide on how to get it set up and running (plus a quick test with a free scene from Chocofur):

[Max] I need help! / Re: Understanding Red Albedo Indicator
« on: 2017-01-18, 19:20:35 »
Here's a discussion on albedo in one of the videos:

(not sure why but it didn't start at the time in the link - 11m 27s or so is a good place to start if the video plays from the beginning for you!)

And an article on it on freshdesk:
https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000515614-what-is-albedo-

Basically, nothing in the real world reflects 100% of incoming light (which is what 255,255,255 would represent), and any such unrealistically high value will introduce noise and slow down render times.
