is it just me or does denoising not seem to work?
it calculates but the framebuffer does not update...

Can confirm that happens to me too - Max 2017, in both a simple and complex scene. Denoising calculates, but VFB doesn't change (and the Denoise amount value doesn't change anything in the image).

Personally I use Backburner for this, comes with 3ds Max and lets you assign multiple jobs and specify which machines should be assigned to those jobs.

Sorry to hear you had problems. I hope you sent that info over to Quixel support, as those would be the people to assist you in the short and long term. Glad to hear you are up and running again now!

I've always just used Backburner for this since it comes with 3ds Max, handy for animations as then I can have up to 4 machines, each one working on its own frame.

Should be possible with the latest Daily Build, which will produce a side-by-side non-panoramic render (so, no headtracking) - in the CoronaCameraMod just enable Virtual Reality mod (stereo) *without* enabling a Projection type override. This kind of side by side should be viewable as 3D on YouTube, 3D TVs and monitors, etc, and I think should playback / view as stereo with the GearVR though I haven't tested that out yet to see which apps in Oculus would do so - anything that views side by side stereo videos would work though.

If that is the Substance map in the 3ds Max Material Editor, there is a known limitation where it may cause crashes - https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000516180-known-bugs-and-limitations (search for Substance on the page).

A quick test here and I was able to create a z-depth.

Main menu -> Corona -> Multipass

Add z-depth

Select it and set the range as appropriate for the scene (the default is 0 to 100cm, where everything is black at 100cm - depending on the scale of the scene, this could result in everything being black)

Let me know if that helps any!

Material editor preview quality can be found under Render Setup -> System -> System Settings button, then on the lower right of the System Settings dialog. It is system-wide and not stored per scene. Hope this helps!
