You answered your question yourself: No :)

AO in Corona is more a tool to create effects like weathering (when used as a mask). And in some rare situations you may still use it as some artistic exaggeration.

Good Luck

It may not be as comfortable as wxWidgets or .net but it´s fast. I need it to be fast for that huge slave list ;)

Bump.

C´mon, it´s only one GUI element. It takes so much time to juggle around with hashes.

(...) it does this  at 16k.

Ok, in the OP you wrote about a "sequence" and I implied you are doing some animation. Trying to do a 16k render would have been some important information :) So all works ok until you go to 16k?

When you update the tread, please also add Max version/BB-version, free disk space on C:, and to quote Maru:

"Also, which version of Corona are you using?"

Good Luck!

No, im not using that path for anything

But Backburner does. Strange, have never seen this.

  • User "render": Is it a special account for running Backburner or just your username?
  • Have you tried to write/read as user "render" to/from this directory?
  • Have you ever used Backburner successfully with your current setup?
  • When you look into c:\users\render\appdata\local\temp , is it spammed with adp* files?
  • Have you tried to erase this temp directory (should be safe to do so)

Not a Corona issue imho, only if 3 is true.

Uncheck "Enable" and it should be fine.

Sorry but I´m pretty sure it´s still hardcoded to 600 and the only way to get around it, is to activate timeouts while submitting the job and set "wait to render" to a high (but still reasonable) number of minutes (or do it later in the manager interface but when the job is already running it get´s restarted by changing those values, very keen...). If you don´t do it like this (enable that mentioned checkbox which is a "per this job timeout", a override) you will still have the default timeout of 600.

But this is really something different from the original problem.

Then reactivate that adaptivity on slaves again and make it work ;)

Sure but

  • You need to have access to the admin shares (c$) on your nodes
  • You need to have DrServer running as windows service
  • To use the cleaning part (plugcfg directory) you may have to change some lines because I run max with useUserProfiles=0 in 'InstallSettings.ini' since the time max started to use userprofiles :) (benefit: all settings are independent from the user who is executing max)
  • You may have to add some code to stop stuff like V-Ray spawner if used on your slaves
  • Even if unlikely, you may mess up the node(s) if not used properly

If you are still interested, drop me a PM.

(...) would take same extra memory (...)

yepp, but when in the long run #passes will/should/could be replaced by image quality (=noise level) then calculating noise level at least when it´s a stop condition still makes sense - even without adaptivity in use.

Last time I clearly noticed it (and tested it) was when default recalc interval was discussed. That time my brows went to the ceiling and I knew why it´s not calculated every pass because the performance loss was obvious. Not seriously testet since then, but I can do some tests on the side.

Reasons for my +1:

  • Only when noise level (NL) is reported also without adaptivity it can be used as stop condition for reproducable results using DR vs. no DR. May get obsolet when slaves get back their adaptivity if ever (don´t know what´s projected here). And I may be also wrong with this because NL calculation turns out to be very different using DR? To be tested.
  • I like all kinds of render statistics :)

then why not?

Hmm... NL calculation still eats a significant amout of performance so it should really only be reported when using noise level as stop condition. That´s the only "why not" I can think of.

Didn´t noticed that before: Slaves are ignoring cVFB regions and do a full render? At least in RC3 and 160501. Is this known/by design or a bug?

Btw, the only Witcher I played was 1 and I enjoyed it.

Then do yourself a favor and don´t, don´t play #2 :)

What am I missing here? Is this about those 6 images stitched together (while there are enough different conventions to do so to get crazy)?

This?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cube_mapping#/media/File:Panorama_cube_map.png

What would be the difference to placing some animated camera and render out 6 frames (+ stitch if necessary)? Or is this about comfort only? Or a special handling of UHD cache to avoid seams?

Just curious,

Only one texture on only one PC (...)

If you can isolate the problem like this you are fine - the cause is somehow that specific box. I tested the above scene with 3 different workstations with same results. I assume it´s very difficult to debug such a phenomenon. And I would not touch it until 1.4 is out and dry :)

Feel free to test, it´s #0001844
