Hi all

I am doing a product viz of a Keybox - I want to have the front as a Mirror - but I am struggling to manage that, as the background needs to stay clear white and somehow I cant set a HDRI to get a Mirror reflection.

Anyone an idea?

Many thanks

Y

Hi there, I'm not sure I fully understand what you're trying to do. Am I on the right track?

Hi beanzvision

Not exactly but also cool effect!!! :)

Attached you can see what I mean - the object "Glas FRONT" should be a Mirror (normal mirror like in bathroom or somewhere else) - right now as there is no HDRI or any other environment it stays white... ?!

Many thanks

Y

It is a mirror but your environment is also white. Therefore, you will only see white. ;)

Yeah it makes sense basically :P - any idea How I could solve that so it would look like mirror effect (one that we can see:)) in Corona/C4D or better to do that later in Photoshop? :-)

Many thanks beanz!!

I'd suggest placing something off camera that shows up in the reflection in the mirror - could be actual geometry, could be a simple plane with some texture on it (anything from a gradient, to a photo of something like a studio lighting set up to a room).

Or perhaps using the reflections override in the render settings might help as well. It really all depends on what you want to be reflected in the mirror. So any examples would be welcome :)

You'll need to fake it with a gradient.
Go to ikeas website and see their mirrors.

Many thanks to all!!!

Is there anyone interested in a job? I need this scene to be lighted perfectly with a pure white background and only some shadow on floor... actually it sometimes overlighted... :)

As a 3D artist, you always have to think like a photographer. They would maybe add a spotlight hitting the floor so you would get something in the reflection. Almost anything would do.

Thank you all for your support - appreciated!

Another issue:

For our product, we must have a pure clear white background each time. The product itself is always in focus and must of course be illuminated cleanly and balanced.

In this example, I'm trying to cleanly light an IKEA table on a white background (it must have shadows). Later I will have to render a white Ikea table.
However, with the light settings it will be overlit. I tried to exclude the table from the individual light sources with render tags or with the material of the table, to reduce the reflection.  No chance.

Ideally, I need a pure white set where I can always illuminate the object with a different light source without it being overlit.

This way I could always illuminate the products/objects sepparat and still have a white background.

I think the problem at the moment is that the light sources are generally also responsible for the background being pure white. Somehow the lighting for the background as well as for the product must be separated...?!

Gladly also against payment :-) - I despair

Thanks all and take care

The only logical way to achieve this, in my mind, is to add a shadow catcher material to your floor set to compositing. Once you adjust your lights to get nice shadows, you can then place the product over a pure white background or any color background for that matter.

Can't I brainstorm the following with the render tag:

1. the light sources responsible for the pure white background exclude the object. Then the object will not be overlit.

2. the object gets its own light source, but it excludes all other objects in the scene.

3. I tell the ground object to render only the shadow of the object.

--> Basically the Floor has an own lighting and the product has an own lighting... how can I manage that?

Is this possible? Render tag?
