I really like the new glare system :) A fast preview window would be a nice addition. Here is what I imagine:

Something like a single light spot rendered next to the custom aperture shape, maybe at a lower quality but super-fast because It is difficult to play around with the parameters because the effect is still relatively slow, so testing in a full scene is not fun.

Still, I find it a lot more natural and appealing! thanks!

For now you can do it by creating your own custom aperture shape map/texture or make some from real lens (anything goes ;)

"Dirty lens effect" is exactly what we have in this new bloom and glare effect (you can already download it and test it). Chromatic aberration is not here yet.

I wonder why new B&G editor is called custom aperture? From my understanding, bloom and glare effects has little to do with actual lens aperture.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

Real bloom and glare are dependent on both aperture and lens surface (and probably other things, like lens transparency, volume,...). But you are right - the name may be a little confusing. Maybe we can improve it.

Sadly i can't. I was tried to install two versions of corona with guide about environment variable - no luck, it was always load v5. And tried full install but also no luck, in plugin manager it was said failed to load(3ds max 2020). Also installer have problems with system scaling. https://i.imgur.com/MDjrz2K.jpg
So i better wait full release =)

Are you sure what it is dirty lens effect? I mean like this

As i understand it's apply similar to glow but in dirty mask on whole frame, and do not duplicate shapes of bloom and glare for every light source.
I don't see this in examples.

I think we should get a unified aperture setting that affects both bokeh and bloom & glare, now it looks a little bit strange when you can set a 6-angle aperture in VFB and circular in aperture shape settings

Please try this:
1) Uninstall Corona from "Programs" list in Windows
2) Then run the daily build installer and install it normally (automatic mode)
If that fails, please try manual installation - https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000038849

If you are not able to get it working, please contact us about this at https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new

Hi all!

I guess the new Bloom and Glare effects are not finished yet but unfortunately the "old legacy" method now doesn't work as it should.
First of all, as the CIE doesn't have yet the new menu options, has no sense for now to use this in production, once you set it up before the final rendering process, the CXR file saved file doesn't work as expected.

I thought going back to the legacy way will work but the results are a bit bad and seems unusable now the legacy as well.

Did you find the same limitations for now?

Thanks!

Hi,

As usual with the daily builds all of the features can be considered experimental. The CIE will have the menu options for the new and legacy bloom and glares in the next daily build.

Can you describe your issues with the new bloom and glare?

Thanks,

Rowan

Hi Rowan and thanks for getting back.

The legacy version now has nothing to do as result if compared to the real legacy one we were using till now.
It seems there is a problem with the size which is a new option of the new method but when we switch at the legacy one the behavior now is different.
I think the problem is evident when you open the saved CXR image back in the standalone CIE.

Thanks,

Dionysios -

Can you PLEASE post image examples? As Rowan mentioned, CIE does not support the new effects yet.

Hi Maru,

I attached a screenshot, in 3ds Max the legacy option works as expected.
If you save the image and open it in CIE and you turn on the Bloom and Glare effects you get a very strong and wrong result.

I guess maybe this happens as the CIE is not compatible with all this process yet?

Something interesting, when you open the CXR in CIE, the Bloom effects are turn off but bloom seems on in reality and the effect is correct as in 3ds Max. The problem occurs after once you turn on the Bloom effect.

Hope is clear...

Thanks,

Dionysios -
