I know you said you switched to a new computer hoping for faster speeds, but have you recently updated c4d? There were a lot of fixes in the latest version

[C4D] General Discussion / Polyhaven alternatives

Hello!
Im curious to see if anyone has any alternative sites for HDRIs instead of Polyhaven.

I transfer materials from scene to scene all the time and have never run into this issue. Can you provide the scenes?

Is it just me or would a dedicated “Normal” channel make sense for a new pbr material?
Most, if not all, tex generators output a normal map and adding the normal shader to the bump in every material by hand is a real time killer…

Just use the BUMP layer in the base layer channel then under the arrow do >Corona>Normal

Hello, I was wondering if anyone else has run into a black viewport issue after downloading the newest corona 8 daily build?

[C4D] Feature Requests / Corona Material Expansion

I'd love to see a mass expansion of corona materials. More styles of metals, woods, tiles, and fabrics for sure! My workflow will thank you lol

[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: Sun Exclusion Tolerance
« on: 2021-10-07, 17:37:15 »
It's not a perfect workaround (cue: shadows), but you could use two suns. One main sun that "excludes" the specific object and a second sun that only includes this specific object and shines with 20% of the main sun's intensity.

This was indeed a good solution for my issue! Thanks again

Forgive me and educate me if there is already something similar to this that I'm unaware of.. But I'd love to be able to exclude objects from the sun at an adjustable amount. Say I just wanted to exclude 80% of the light from the sun on a single object. This would be amazing!

I've used both and gotten some weird results...

No matter what type of material used, when its placed on a flat surface or one side of a cube it creates an inverted displacement. BUT if I place a material on the entire cube it works correctly.

I've changed the projection between uvmapping and cubic and it doesnt make a difference in the displacement.

in regards to the IOR, the recent update makes all the corona materials physical so i dont get that weird value anymore.
