[Archive] Chaos Corona for Maya / Roughness
« on: 2016-01-05, 20:30:50 »
Hey Haggi, I was wondering what roughness type coronaSurface is using at the moment. Is it GGX? Does it have a curve like the 3dsmax version? I'd like some clarification on this =)

[Archive] Chaos Corona for Maya / IES lights
« on: 2016-01-03, 20:55:12 »
Hey Haggi, could you quickly explain the new workflow for using IES profile in the lights? Im a bit lost here on how to proceed. Should I assign a CoronaLight to a geo (lets say a disk) ? I've tried this but it seems to completely ignore the IES profile unfortnately...

[Archive] Chaos Corona for Maya / Film Translate/Offset
« on: 2016-01-03, 18:47:06 »
Hi
It seems that the camera options Film translate or offset are not being taken into consideration when rendering. Is this on the roadmap by any chance? It would be really useful for it to be supported.

Thanks!

[Archive] Chaos Corona for Maya / TX Files
« on: 2015-08-01, 14:12:15 »
Hey, could someone explain to me how to create the tx files from the maketx.exe and what the correct workflow is please?

I've got a few 8k maps (4 exactly at the moment) and sometimes the render just take forever to do the first pass... I don't really know why.

Thanks!

EDIT: I've got those 4 file nodes connected to multiple shaders. Don't know if that makes a difference but just putting it up here. Should save memory normally

Hey

I've noticed a massive difference in render time between when I start the render with Colormapping_Gamma on 2.2 or on 1.
I'm not using Corona's own colormapping as I'm using Maya_2015 new color management system and I'm using a Custom LUT, but when I put the Colormapping_Gamma at 1, it is much much longer than when it is on 2.2, and I can see that it's sending a LOT more samples when it's on 2.2

Any reason for this? I've read somewhere that brighter images were longer to render, so I was wondering why it was the opposite here.

Here's a couple of images

You can see as well that if I put the gamma back to 1 AFTER the render is complete, the image is identical.

Render started with Gamma at 1 (ColorManagement ON)

Render started with Gamma at 2.2 then reverted to 1 after the render completed (ColorManagement ON)

Gamma at 2.2 with ColorManagement ON

Gamma at 2.2 with ColorManagement OFF

I find it a bit obscure, so I thought there might be an issue somewhere. I don't mind using Corona's Colormapping but I'd much rather using my custom LUT.

If anyone knows why this is happening, as it's a really stranger behaviour to me.

[Archive] Chaos Corona for Maya / Normal Map workflow
« on: 2015-05-10, 02:21:30 »
I was trying to put a normal map on my shader, and I noticed that there's a Normal Map slot under the Corona tab in the bump node.
What is the correct workflow for this? Changing the bump mode to Tangent Space completely mess up the shader, and it doesn't make any difference when I've got a map plugged into the Normal Map slot or not.

If you could clarify that it would be great! There's no mention about it in the doc.

Thanks

[Archive] Chaos Corona for Maya / HDRI environment lighting
« on: 2015-05-09, 22:39:23 »
Hey guys.

I'm trying to set up a really simple environment lighting with a HDR map in a sphere, but I can't managed to do it in Corona.
Whenever I put an hdr image in the image slot of the Color/Map tab in the render settings, it just renders black. I can see the alpha so it's rendering, but it's not taking any lighting information from my hdr map. And I can't seem to find a SkyDome sphere where I could actually control the exposure of my hdr map, like I would in Arnold for exemple.
Am I missing something or is this a feature not yet implemented? If it is, what's the workflow?

Thanks a lot
