General CG Discussion / Re: Vantage and Corona
« on: 2022-11-09, 10:52:47 »
I have to say I don't agree, out of the box, vray is far more work to get the colours right , the lighting correct, despite what the vray Youtube channel says.
Corona dosen't crash as often either, I have started the same projects and worked on both Vray and Corona on a daily basis, and Vray will crash everytime.
Corona handels the Polygons much better.

Vray has a few tools I would love , Vantage, Colloration tool is a must me for me, and I have to wait to see if they are coming.

[Max] Feature Requests / Collaberation tool Corona
« on: 2022-11-08, 17:50:25 »
Hi
I have used the collabertion tool in Vray 6, and the clients love it.
Can we please have it in Corona asap, it excellent.

Also. I have asked a few times but a port to Vantage for Corona, also, the vray converter of Corona basic materials does not work, so a more robust tool set is required.
Please.

Thank you

Philip

Very good analogy..............and agree .........well said

I'd love to be in a position where I can predict whether I'll make $4m+ or $6m+ profit that year - or whatever the actual figures are.  I think last time I looked into it, Chaos were valued in the billions.

I think my biggest issue is just how steep the increase is when you total it up.  I've seen comments from the Corona mods justfying it by saying things like "there haven't been any increases in X years", correct there haven't, but you've just made up for that by bundling all those missed incremental increases into 1 massive hike this time around.  It's just the sheer audacity of it.  I'd be more open to it, if they said "there haven't been any increases in X years, so this year we need to slightly increase the price and moving forwards the price will increase in line with our costs etc etc"

I might try it with a client, "actually on your last few jobs I charged you way less than I probably should have, so this time round I'm going to charge you double/triple, I'm also stripping some of the benefits I've given you over the years, unless you decide to pay for your next few jobs in advance today"

Same process, I get Revit models in and sometime if not a lot of the time the revit model is not linking correctly.
Generally the layers have a ral of finish text in the layer name, which helps with the materials.
A lot of cleaning up involved. and can be high geometry count too.
Attaching a lof the same objects helps, as you go through the layers you will see that.
Watch out for handrails and the genious who modeled the railings indiviually, they can be massive.

Generally works out correctly untill they send you an update..............rinse and repaet on the your time.

Good korning
Just checking has anybody come across another VR hosting site for clients.
Some in the past have been very expensive, so looking for a econmical one to host on that lets you custiomise the preview from clinets for presentations.

Thank you

General CG Discussion / Re: Texturing a curve Foothpaths etc
« on: 2022-09-16, 23:58:13 »
Thank you both very much.
I have been cutting polygones and mapping.
Thought there was a quicker way. the UVW spliner mapping is easier , if only there werent so many edges.
Path edge, Drain, Tactikle, main paving, paving edge at shop front....see it's gets tricky.

But again thank you
