Hi everyone,

I share with you today, a short teaser of a fan project that I'm working on it since several months.
The final project will be a CGI short fan movie (around 3 minutes) on the theme of Lost woods of Hyrule.
The entire project is calculated in 3840x1634 pixels natively on Corona Renderer on a single computer (mine).
The configuration is: intel i7 6800k, 32go, gtx 1070
Of course the main difficulty is the rendering times in 4k. But I'm really pleasantly surprised, I'm between 30 and 50 minutes per frame.
Of course this is  project i do for fun, and there are a lot of things to fix. I plan to complete the project during the 2020 year.
I hope you will enjoy this first preview, in 4k.
I regularly post my project progress on the networks, don't hesitate to take a look.

I really really thank you all!
I started to have doubts last night because I know that some things are cheap.
I try to fill this lack of realism and details with the atmosphere.
I'm glad you like it.

I have no idea what you're talking about, the teaser looks amazing. And the fact that you are rendering it on a single i7 machine with 32 gigs of RAM, is just mindblowing! Can't wait to see the whole thing.

I guess you are heavily relying on splitting stuff into parts, then compositing, post-processing? Nonetheless, this is impressive!
If you would need some scene optimization hints to bring your render times even lower, feel free to drop us a line at support@corona-renderer.com :)

Thank you very much for your help offer @maru. I will contact you if I encounter serious rendering concerns.
Yes, I have some split sequence, and recomposed in aftereffects. But some sequences are calculated entirely. I really depends.

this is the mind of a great artist at work. nothing is good enough. it's very hard to find a visual that fully satisfies him. his video is amazing no doubt about it, is it perfect? no, there are as he says "gaps" here and there even in the atmosphere. but his talent and mentality are amazing and the recipe of the most amazing creations, I'll make sure to follow his work for sure.

That's really beautiful, I watched it 8 times :- ). But also because music..

And 4K !! (not even gonna comment on i7, wow). Imho these kinds of work are such a good advertising, couldn't Corona sponsor a bit some render-farm for this when it's final?

I think "rendered on a single i7" is the best advertisement you can get :]

Thank you guys ! :)

Yes render with my i7-6800K takes time, but it’s not a big deal. It allows me to take my time.
Usually, I work 1 week peer sequence, then there are between 2 to 3 weeks of renderings. I don't render during night, nor during my working hours.
Maybe in the year i would change to a threadripper ryzen and 64go.

Some of my acquaintances tell me that Corona is not made for film, just a freelance engine, and others bullshit like that.
Ok so here I told to myself, I'm going to make a 4k movie :p

To return to the split, I put 2 images showing how I do it. Nothing sensational.

I just created a behance page if you want: https://www.behance.net/gallery/92058307/Hyrule-Lost-Woods-Teaser

Anyway, thank you guys for your encouragement!

Hey Romuald - looking at your quick breakdown images, it looks like you're adding the DOF in post - is this correct? If so, would love to know what plugin you're using (maybe something in After Effects or Fusion?).

When I worked on a short animated project recently, adding DOF in post saved a lot of time over rendering the focus in Corona but didn't look as good! Keep up the great work!

Yes, DOF is in post, with frischluft in after effects.

Really impressive work!

One question.
Can you say, what frame rate you are rendering?
