The main issue here is that we don't know what exactly is causing it, but we have no reason to believe it is related to Corona at all. It's most likely related to 3ds Max and its command-line rendering. We received some user reports about it, but we were never able to reproduce it on our end. There are some similar non-Corona issues in 3ds Max. For example, if you have multiple cameras in your scene with the same name, the command-line renderer can go crazy by randomly rendering frames from one camera or the other.
