If it's been on the list for 3 years it's safe to assume it's never going to happen.

Shame, hopefully there are third party scripts available

Uploaded the scene, it's called 19031_11-The Strand, and attached the minidump here.

Thanks.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Crash when using interactive rendering
« on: 2019-04-11, 11:23:30 »
Hi,

Having a crash every time I use interactive rendering after switching a scene from Vray to Corona.

I'm getting the same error as pointed out in this thread here:

https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=21716.0

Latest Corona version, 3DSMax 2019 SP3. Works fine if I set the renderer as Corona in a blank scene and import everything in. Anyone have any ideas? I can provide the scene if necessary.

Thanks,

@cjwidd
Thank you very much! :)
About the wood floor, this is a floor I modeled for my previous project here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/54502505/Black-Haussmann-CGI
I modeled a board, take care to have enough polygones, added a noise, and then duplicate it and change the noise seed on each board.
I attached all boards together to have juste one object, and I applied a mutli materia with some wooden textures I found on 3dSky.
I hope it's understandable :)

The floor is absolutely stunning, would you mind sharing the texture you found on 3DSky?

Amazing work, I hope to be able to produce work like this one day.

Yea it's only happening on my machine, not any of my co-workers who are all running the same software... I doubt it's a Corona issue, likely a Max issue, but I will never get a useful response on the Autodesk forums so I thought I'd ask some competent people :)

Running Max 2017, Corona 1.7 hotfix 3.

It simply started happening randomly yesterday, whenever you click on a light select element it jumps straight to the top and pushes the elements selection box down... If i manually put it back to where it should be below, this behaviour completely STOPS until next time I open the render setup dialog....

I'm hoping I can avoid reinstalling Max, as I bet that would fix it right away.

I'll see if I can get a video running later - and I only quickly made that scene to show what the problem was, I know about the lightmix element :) Which is why this is so annoying, I use it HEAVILY in my interior scenes.

Hi,

Starting yesterday I got this bug out of the blue. When adding a light select element and clicking on it, the "Light Select Render Element" tab immediately jumps to the top of the stack. Clicking on another element, this behaviour goes away.

Screenshots attached. This is driving me absolutely insane, any tips would be amazing.

Screenshot 1 is before clicking on the "CShading_LightMix", screenshot 2 is immediately after clicking it. If I click on the "CESSENTIAL_Direct" element, the "Render Elements" box jumps back to the top.

Thanks,

I should also add I have tested this on other machines in the office and have replicated the problem on each.

Haven't noticed it here. What is your CPU model?

CPU Model is E5-1650 V4

I've saved out some less complex scenes today and tested the Image Editor, and it's lightning fast. It seems to be with just this one scene (Although I have yet to test another complex scene with 1.7 Image Editor). The only thing that has changed with this scene between 1.6 and 1.7 is a lighting model imported from Sketchup and the corresponding LightSelect pass. I also allowed the render to run for several hundred passes overnight, although I'm not sure if this would contribute to a slowdown.

I have just resumed the render from the CXR in Max, and there is no slowdown when using lightmix or adjusting and post processing options - an action that gives a 3 second hang in the Image Editor is instantaneous in the VFB.

I don't have the 1.6 Image Editor to test this with, can I get a download link?

I can also provide you with the .CXR and possibly the Max file if needed.

Has nobody else experienced this?

[Max] General Discussion / Re: corona and forest pro
« on: 2017-12-08, 17:21:56 »
Hi,

I am having a bit of memory problems with corona. I am doing arch viz scene that has lot's of trees scattered with forest pro. I have previously used vray and had no problems with forest pro. Now that I am using forest pro with corona I am running out of memory in scenes that I could easily render with vray. Are there any tips to decrease memory foot print when dealing with forest pro. I have 32 gigs of memory and my scene takes 8 gigs of memory. Still I run out of memory. That seems a bit odd.

Why Corona does not support forest color? I have used it alot with vray and it's a shame I can't use it anymore.

I use Forest Pro with Corona and use Forest Colour to apply tint.... works fine for me.

As for RAM usage, I won't even attempt to use Corona with less than 64GB RAM. It's very RAM hungry.

[Max] General Discussion / Corona Image Editor CPU Usage
« on: 2017-12-08, 17:15:56 »
Hi,

Using the Corona Image Editor on 1.7 seems significantly slower than previous builds. When altering Lightmix intensity, exposure, light colour, anything really, the CPU usage spikes to 100% and it takes around 1 second per change to process.

Has anyone else noticed a slowdown on the latest version, and more importantly, found a workaround?

Thanks

[Max] General Discussion / Re: IR used to be interactive

+1

I've noticed this ever since the update the allowed interactive to work only for the zoomed in area. I can't recall which update that was, but since then it's been a chore to use.

Hello,

First, close Render Setup window. Then try that:

Code: [Select]
re = maxOps.GetCurRenderElementMgr()
for i = 0 to re.NumRenderElements()  do re.SetRenderElementFilename i ""

Thanks to SugaR for this piece of code :)

This works perfectly, thank you for sharing!

Hi,

A previous company I worked at had a custom script for removing the Output path of ALL render elements at once, does anyone familiar with MaxScript know how I might go about making this? I'm being driven crazy by "Error Creating File Output" and finding Max has suddenly decided to try save all my elements to a random, non-existent network location.
