Here are renders for my entry in the new environment challenge on Ludovic Iochem Discord Channel:
https://discord.gg/dJcbFJThe goal is to match a photo.
Intense use of Megascans library. Rendered with Corona with the help of its great scatter object !
Few things about it:
-Made in 3ds Max, rendered with Corona renderer
-Entire scene is full 3D
-The base is just a plane with 200x200 segments. Few manual sculpts and UV before shading it.
To place camera, I use some camera mapping at first and perspective matching in 3ds Max
-It is real scale, the whole thing is around 800m width and length
-Most of the grass/plants or from megascans the trees are from my library, can't remember where I got them.
-Most of shaders are from Megascan too. Made around 10 myself because some of the tress were not made for Corona renderer
-10 Corona scatters to populate onto 4 different surfaces
-More than 8 species of plants making more than 50 different plants (grass and bush)
-it is more 170000 instances of grass
-10000 instances of bushes
-10000 instances of flowers
-120000 instances of peebles for the trail
-15000 instances of trees
-Random branches on the ground, around 500.
-15 different trees scattered or placed manually.
-Volume shader from Corona. Distance around 1200m
-Render is 6000x3402 pixels
-Took 3.45Hours to render on a 5 years old i7 / 13 min to denoise with Corona Renderer
-Rendering 9 passes: Direct, Indirect, Translucency, Reflection, Occlusion, Volume, BloomGlare, Alpha, Zdepth. Single EXR file.
-Compositing in Photoshop, opened with EXR-IO. Few color correction, glow effect and sun godrays.
