Spot Lights

(1/2) > >>

AntonCromas:
Hello,

Is there a spot light for corona? The directionality option in the lights doesn't do the trick, shadows lack sharpness.

Regards,
Anton

burnin:
You can use native C4D spotlight.

More on "Chaos Help Center":
- What kind of lights are there?
- Do Cinema 4D lights work with Corona Renderer?

AntonCromas:
Thanks for the reply.

I mean can you really say its supported when its a basic point light with no way to control softness of the shadow.

Seems like there is no way to get a basic photography spotlight like we use at the studio irl during the shoots, which is a huge downside since thats how our photographers add visual detail using gobos.

Only engine that doesnt have a spot light from what I have gathered =( Was just hoping there is a work around because we really like the material look and how softbox lights look.

Regards,
Anton

Using native lights, edge softness is controlled by Inner & Outer angle.  Falloff, Gradient Colored Edge, Rad. Decay, Clipping... all help in defining shadow sharpness like with AR/Physical...
Oh, I see now none of shadows really work.. ?

BTW
To get sharp shadow w/ Corona's Area light, make it really small (just like IRL)
and for realism sake, best is to model casing/housing & put IES profile inside. This way you can get "perfectly correct" results.

Sebastien:
Like Burnin said, do a tube and put a small area or object light in it with an IES and you'll get a perfect result
