Changes in Corona Renderer 7 for Cinema 4D (Daily Build 2020-10-23) (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1V8ZhkbXuXnOqftM11pvXlnELLR6I6bbI):

  • Added:
    • Added option to LightSelect pass to include all lights not included in other LightSelect passes (allows to denoise rest of lights with LightMix)
  • Fixed:
    • Fixed crashes happening when parsing hair for render (already released in 6.1 hotfix 2020-10-08)
    • Added initial ability to render multi-instances in IR (improvements and further bug fixes to follow)
  • Changed:
    • Removed old (pre-v5) version of displacement, old scenes will automatically use current 2.5D displacement
    • From now on, Corona will require macOS version 10.13 or newer

We're aware of specific situations where 2.5D Displacement does not yet work as expected. In order to resolve those cases, we have to remove the old displacement first. Please keep this in mind if you choose to switch to the daily build, that you will not be able to disable 2.5D Displacement if you happen to encounter one of those specific situations.

Changes in Corona Renderer 7 for Cinema 4D (Daily Build 2021-05-18) (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1V8ZhkbXuXnOqftM11pvXlnELLR6I6bbI):

  • Added:
    • Added material library
    • Added Corona Mixture shader
    • Added "Invert colors" option to Color Mix shader
    • Masks propagation can be enabled/disabled for Mask, Id, ZDepth, WireColor and Texmap multi-passes
  • Physical material:
    • Fixed volumetric scattering controls not becoming active when opacity is enabled
    • Improved hybrid glass - it now looks much closer to real glass (caustics on) and changing roughness from 0 to 0.001 does not result in significant change in a look
    • Improved thin glass - now it blurs refraction depending on the roughness value. It also correctly simulates bouncing within the thin glass
    • Changing IOR from 1 to 1.001 no longer results in drastic change of look (previously it did especially for high roughness values)
    • Examples:
  • OptiX (NVIDIA GPU AI denoiser) updated to version 6.5.0
    • All OptiX files are now part of the regular Corona installer, no longer requiring any additional download
    • Requires NVIDIA GPU driver version 436.02 or later
    • No change in supported GPUs, it should still work with Maxwell and later
  • Changed:
    • Updated VolumeGrid icon
  • Fixed:
    • Fixed rendering of material previews with custom scale

This is the first version that comes with material library. On Windows, installer will download and install material library as part of installation process. On macOS, we currently have separate installer that can be downloaded from the previous link together with regular plugin installer; we plan to improve this in future builds so the process is similar to Windows.

Changes in Corona Renderer 7 for Cinema 4D (Release Candidate 3) (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fAJusAWXdB2-ePLo4sWUR0Lq0RGh4nYs):

  • Material library:
    • Added 13 new metal materials
    • Added 13 new masonry materials
    • Added 9 new wood materials
      • All new materials are built upon the new physical material
    • Converted existing carpets, ceramic tiles, concrete and flooring materials to the new physical material
      • Note that this might result in a slightly different visual result, however existing scenes based on the previous versions of material library will be unaffected
    • On Mac, Material Library download and installation is now included in Corona for Cinema 4D installer
  • Changed:
    • Bucket rendering disabled for IR, because in some cases it is still too visually distracting
      • Buckets are still enabled in production rendering after 5 passes (and in Team Render from the render start) for better performance. We'll experiment with IR buckets more in v8 to get some better solution.
    • Reintroduced fake horizon blur for the new sky model
      • Default horizon blur is now 0 since the blurring should be controlled by the physically correct altitude parameter
      • As horizon blur wasn't working in previous versions, scenes created in RC1 and RC2 might render slightly differently if it is set to non-zero value
  • Fixed:
    • Increased altitude range of new sky model up to 15000 meters
    • Fixed problem with material converted from Legacy to Physical having base layer mix strength set to 0%
    • Fixed new sky model being black below horizon in orthographic cameras
    • Fixed problem with objects with displacement dissapearing in IR
    • Fixed green/magenta tint in the new improved sky model volumetric effect when computed for short distances (under 200 meters)
