We've made the simple example scenes we used in the New Features video available for download, so you can take a look at some ways to use the Distance Shader in Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D. Seems like the distance shader is similar to C4D's Proximal Shader. Is that correct?

Similar, yes, but it's proximal on steroids, quite a lot faster and a lot more versatile. While proximal needs a dense geometry to give useful results, distance takes what it gets and performs its magic.
Plus: It's useful for Mograph, too.

Hi! Not sure what you mean, sorry. There's no additional plugin needed, you just need to be using Corona which has the Corona Distance Map built in. Of course that means using Corona 6 or newer (but there's no reason to be using an older version, as the newer ones are faster with more features).
