Good to hear. I used both when I was studying and already changed 15 years ago from 3ds max to cinema 4d. Never had to regret it.
You may want to try this plugin for converting materials.
It has more options and can convert only one material only.

Yes problem of the past. They hired some person from Adobe put monthly subscription and changed the logo into M.
Basically you do not own the software anymore but pay for the license.

It was never that you owned the software but only the license you paid for.
I worked at finnish cinema 4d distributor when they still had different editions
but it is 10 years ago.

However now you just pay what you use on monthly basis.
With some software like Affinity you pay one time and never again.
Adobe has the business model because they have to pay their employee.

I worked for a short time with R16 visualize in architecture office and found it most useless version
for architecture visualisation. It does not have Mograph which is needed very often in
cloning trees and grass.
On the other hand you can use displacement map with corona grass if that helps.

Typically in customer production there is some use for scene converter when converting some furniture models with
basic c4d materials into corona shaders.

Sometimes it is useful when I have purchased some assets from Evermotion which are in vray format.
First one is converted with built in converter without any manual work and second is converted with scene converter plugin with some manual work.

Last one is original vrayforc4d version.

Of course conversion is not straightforward and you have to remake some materials.

In order to convert vrayforc4d scene and materials into corona renderer you need to have vrayforc4d installed.
Plugin is working ok but you need to adjust shaders manually as they are not the same render engine.
You can also use Corona renderer native converter. Not sure if corona renderer converter or plugin is better though because both do the
same but I think plugin has better options for more experienced users like myself. For example you can only convert selected material
in plugin options and you don´t have to convert all materials at once but only those you need to have for rendering.

I call conversion between render engines "hands on the pocket" conversions because these are
not all very handy and not 100% conversion.

Actually I had to render grass with c4d native renderer because of
Visualize version that has no Hair option.

Just select Corona Sun and make it editable press C on keyboard and you have Cinema 4D Infinite light.

This is handy when you have to render something with native renderer in same project
and use have same lighting.

How to use it in R16 visualize ? I know this is stupid question but I started as visualiser and we have only Corona in R16 Vizualize that has no mograph support. Perhaps you can generate grass easy with particle systems for poly surface.
