Hi guys!

Almost all the time while I work on archvis projects I'm not satisfied with default material preview objects (sphere, cube, cylinder). They do not give enough visual information about the material. This is why I prefer to use my own sample object with rectangular light source (which is more important for work with vray) for material preview in MatEditor (you can see it on attachement) - it gives better visualisation of material I'm working on, about reflections on spherical and flat surfaces at the same time, and even about AO maps if they used in this shader. But in 3DS Max 2014 which I use now switching to custom sample object is possible only from Compact Material Editor mode - not good for me because I get used to work in Slate ME.
Does somebody knows the way how to make Max to use my own sample object as default object for preview (would be perfect)?
Or maybe how to change sample object to my own from Slate Material Editor?

Thanks in advanced!

make sure you have selected materials when hit 'set in slate'

That page doesn't exist it seems, only gives an error that I need to be logged in, which I am. Searching for that script turns up 0 results.

Yes, I didn't find this page too, but Jahman attached the script to his post, so I used that one

Thank you again!
Tried updated script - it works - sample object has been changed for selected materials , but script reset all values and colors of materials to default ones and disconnected all maps from them...

Finally it works as it supposed to.

Thank you very much for your tries!
Sorry to say, but this time the script crash Max. First it looks like nothing happened, but if I try to touch material editor Max falls down with offer to save recovered file

Wonder what can cause that crash. What max version are you using?
2014x64 works well for me.

Found some other bug which caused crash in 2016.
And a bad news is that sample object mesh seems to update on max restart only.
Anyway I'll try to test it some more time with corona scene. Thx for your feedback
